UK: 'Culture of misogyny' could mean men get more lenient sentences - commissioners warn

Article here. Excerpt:

'A "culture of misogyny in the criminal justice system" could lead to men getting away with more lenient sentences, the victims' commissioner and domestic abuse commissioner for England and Wales have said.

In a joint letter to Home Secretary Priti Patel, Lord Chancellor Robert Buckland and Attorney General Michael Ellis, the commissioners have called for an independent review for every domestic homicide.

They are also urging the government to review murder and manslaughter sentences in domestic abuse cases.

In the letter, Domestic Abuse Commissioner Nicole Jacobs and Victims' Commissioner Dame Vera Baird QC call for "greater recognition of the devastation caused by domestic homicide" and a "programme of work to address deficiencies across the criminal justice system and statutory services".'

Data Shows Women Make Better Leaders. Who Cares?

Article here. Excerpt:

'The mountain of evidence keeps growing. Women leaders outperform. Especially during a crisis. Companies with more of them do better. Countries led by women are managing the Covid crisis better than their male counterparts. Why aren’t we all celebrating a global human awakening to the miracle of women’s century-long rise this International Women’s Day? Because only half the world is listening. And no, it’s not women vs men. It’s public vs private sector.
...
Companies expect talent to fight for power. That’s what men do. Women don’t. They fight for purpose. That’s why men sit atop the corporate world and women are now reaching the top of the public and non-profit sectors. That’s also why we need more women running businesses. Male dominated companies not only underperform. They are bad for the rest of us (think tech and finance, AI and subprimes).'

If Pepe Le Pew promotes rape culture, what about the date-rape plot in Eddie Murphy’s ‘Coming 2 America’?

Article here. Excerpt:

'Except this isn’t what happened. At all. In this movie, we find out that Leslie Jones’ character drugged Akeem and then had sex with him, making it literally date rape. Via Slate:

. . .Akeem was drugged by a woman (played by Leslie Jones) who he and Semmi (Arsenio Hall) invited back with them from the bar—a woman who then proceeded to have sex with the prince and become pregnant with his son. That this scene depicts a pretty clear-cut date rape (Akeem doesn’t remember any of this, except that he encountered a “boar”) while playing it for laughs is one of the movie’s first and most harrowing choices.

And since we spent the entire weekend canceling Pepe Le Pew, shouldn’t the New York Times and Charles M. blow be at least as equally as concerned with an entire movie based on date rape?'

Here Comes the Due Process Rollback

Article here. Excerpt:

'Schools and colleges are closed across much of the U.S., but some in Congress have a different priority for the Department of Education: Ensuring that student due-process protections are weakened.

Miguel Cardona, the department’s newly-confirmed Secretary, hadn’t even been in office a full day before 115 House Democrats sent a letter pressing him to “prioritize replacing Secretary Betsy DeVos ’ final rule” on campus sexual misconduct.
...
The House letter claims the rule “turns back the clock and erodes hard-fought protections and rights for victims with a ‘boys will be boys’ approach to sexual assault on college campuses.” That’s nonsense, and we doubt most signers can name the rule’s relevant provisions.'

How Negative Stereotypes About Boys Affect Their Academics And Health

Article here. Excerpt:

'At stake in this debate is so much more than the toys boys play with. The stereotypes and pressures that boys face threaten their physical and mental health, their ability to navigate their inner lives and interpersonal relationships, and even their academic success.

Consider how boys are doing in school. The average boy lags behind the average girl in reading. Boys are more likely to drop out of high school and less likely to enroll in college. Journalists and activists have been calling attention to this “boy crisis” in education for two decades, attributing it to teaching styles ill-suited to boys and more generally to the assumption, among feminists and educators, that the students most in need of attention and help are girls.

March 3: Free men's health seminar about prostate health

The Global Initiative for Boys & Men will be sponsoring a free online program about prostate health on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at 7:00 PM Central Time (in North America) and Thursday, March 4, 2021 at 01:00 (UTC/GMT). This looks to be an important and potentially lifesaving program.

Please click this link to register: www.gibm.us

The graphic below provides details about the program.

Also, the program will be presented via Zoom (yeah, that Zoom, the one that people have been talking about for online meetings and video calls). You can get set up with Zoom at the following website:

www.zoom.us

If you don't already have Zoom, I recommend starting to set it up about 30 minutes before the webinar program begins. It's relatively easy to use, but if you are unfamiliar with it, or videoconferencing in general, you will want to give yourself some time to get acquainted with the website and software. That way, you can join the meeting on time and not miss any of it.

Former CIA Director John Brennan: 'I'm increasingly embarrassed to be a white male these days'

Article here. Excerpt:

'Former CIA director turned MSNBC intelligence analyst John Brennan told the outlet's audience Monday that he is "increasingly embarrassed to be a white male," in reaction to investigations surrounding the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Brennan made the declaration during MSNBC's "Deadline White House," after former Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill (Mo.) told host Nicolle Wallace, "I have never seen so many whiny white men calling themselves victims as I saw over the weekend at [the Conservative Political Action Conference]. I mean, these are all people who think they have a huge grievance from a position of significant privilege."'

Biden’s Alma Mater Bans Men From Posts And Scholarships, Just For Being Men

Article here. Excerpt:

'President Joe Biden has long kept his thumb on the scale against college students accused of sexual misconduct. The accused, overwhelmingly, are men, so his efforts have been discriminatory in outcome if not also in intent.

His alma mater, the University of Delaware, also pervasively discriminates in favor of women and against men. Let me count the ways.

Worst is Delaware’s Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics, where I count six violations of Title IX, the federal law that bans discrimination based on sex. The lion’s share of the violations lie with the Lerner College’s Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI).

WLI runs an executive education program, “RISE UP,” exclusively for mid-career women. It also runs Female Faculty Connections, exclusively for female faculty. For just $8,000, an organization can enroll a cohort of up to 10 women (no men allowed) in WLI’s new Women’s Leadership Online Certificate Program.'

Clemson University's cutting of Men's Track prompts Federal Civil Rights Complaint

Article here. Excerpt:

'A Federal Civil Rights complaint is being filed against Clemson University for discontinuing the men's track and field and cross country programs. The complaint alleges that Clemson University is violating Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, and national origin in programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance.

Athlete and activist Russell Dinkins worked alongside current and former Clemson athletes, alumni and parents to create the complaint, and believes that by cutting the men's track and field program, Clemson is directly targeting African American athletes on campus and the number of opportunities African American males receive therein.'

Colin Farrell, Don Cheadle Among Celebrities Pushing Congress to Pass $2,400 Monthly Payments to Moms

Article here. Excerpt:

'An open letter published Thursday as a full-page ad in The Washington Post urged Congress to pass financial relief for mothers who have taken on extra responsibilities in the home as a result of the Chinese coronavirus pandemic. The letter, which was signed by 50 prominent men, demands “pay equity” for women and other measures such as affordable childcare, paid family leave, and a plan that will safely re-open schools five days a week.

“When more than 30 years of progress for women in the workforce can be erased in 9 months, the underlying system is broken,” the letter said. “It’s time to create a new structure that works for women, that respects and values their labor.”

Biden’s COVID relief bill is chock full of anti-white reverse racism

Article here. Excerpt:

'Discrimination likewise mars the bill’s aid to restaurants. It grants restaurant owners up to $5 million per facility to offset losses caused by lockdowns. That’s a lifeline for restaurants barely hanging on.

Here’s the hitch: Only women, veterans and owners of “socially and economically disadvantaged” concerns (again, defined racially elsewhere in federal law) may apply during the program’s first three weeks. Most white males go to the back of the line, even if their needs are more pressing.

Treating white male farmers and restaurant owners like second-class citizens violates the principle that we are all equal under the law, a principle guaranteed by the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution.'

Male worker sues female boss who told him to 'man up' in 'woman-dominated' firm

Article here. Excerpt:

'A laboratory scientist is suing the “woman-dominated” firm where he worked, claiming that his female boss told him to “man up”.

Daniel Price alleges that “extreme discrimination against males” made the company a “toxic workplace”.

He claims that his manager Ashleigh Knowles told him “men are less organised” and that he was repeatedly ordered to “go away” during “girls-only” conversations.

Mr Price says he was the only worker instructed to carry boxes, being told “because you’re a man”.

He once refused, due to a hernia, but was ordered to “man up and get on with it, it’s only a few boxes”, a tribunal heard.
...
The tribunal heard that lab manager Ms Knowles said of a new appointment: “More than likely it’ll be a girl, as women tend to be better and more organised in the lab.”

She then allegedly told Mr Price: “You’re lucky to have your job, as everyone was shocked that it was a guy being employed.

"We normally only employ females because men are less organised.”'

Scotland: Amber Rudd: if I were PM, I'd fire all the men and have 'all-female Cabinet'

Article here. Excerpt:

'AMBER Rudd, the former Home Secretary, has said if she were Prime Minister, she would “fire all the men” and have an all-female Cabinet.

In an interview with ITV as part of its Acting PM podcast, Ms Rudd also expressed regret that the Tory Party no longer seemed to be a “welcoming place for Conservatives who are pro-Europeans”.

On what she would do with the Cabinet, she replied: “I'd fire all the men. I've decided I would have an all-female Cabinet. It's about time that we addressed the balance.

“There's been so many all-male Cabinets, although the last one was in 1992, but it still feels quite recent to me that still there's an issue with women getting into Cabinet. The current rate is just under 25% with David Frost's elevation…”

Ms Rudd said the Cabinet still felt “very much a boys club,” whereby women were overlooked. “The point is representation leads to policy changes; with an all-female Cabinet, we would address a lot of the issues that are being neglected at the moment.”'
