Widow of FDNY fire marshal arraigned for murder

'The disheveled widow of an FDNY fire marshal showed no remorse and mischievously grinned her way yesterday through an arraignment - even winking to her family - as prosecutors charged her with "coldbloodedly" murdering her husband in his sleep.

Looking haggard in sweats with her hair in a ponytail, Janet Redmond-Mercereau, 38, was slapped with second-degree murder and other charges for allegedly shooting Douglas Mercereau three times in the head at close range with his 9 mm revolver last December.

As she was led away by police, she continued to flash her deadly smile, although she looked a mess in a gray hoodie emblazoned with the letters "LBI" - for the Jersey Shore vacation spot Long Beach Island.

Through her lawyer, Redmond-Mercereau has said her husband had been verbally abusive after she gained weight because of a thyroid condition.

The couple - married for 12 years - had a rocky relationship over the past few years.

Prosecutors don't buy her claims.

"We believe [the abuse] not to be true," said Staten Island DA Daniel Donovan.'

i guess if these idiots will buy it against a dead sleeping preacher,

if women claim abuse during a trial, like this one, does VAWA fund all/ part of their defense? i smell a RAT as usual w/ $$ and handouts to women's groups.

that is a lot of money (billions $$) going where no FEM-man dare ask. probably take a team of accountants years to track it. i'll wager no votes AGAIN by our brave honest congressFEM-men against these no-strings handouts. wonder does ole GW have a real rubber stamp for all these feminist handouts or does he really sign his name to this trash?

advice for a pres. - reach down gw and make sure you still got a set. looks doubtful from here. that little bit of lame questioning this year about a small portion of the VAWA handouts was lame.

Usually when a wife kills her husband its buried somewhere between the comic and sports section.

This story was on the front page of the saturday edition of the New York Post. It took up the entire page with a picture of the woman "smirking" as she left the court building.

Lets see if it gains any MSM momentum.

Its like sexual harassment. Its anything a woman considers uncomfortable. Unfortunately for men most of us aren't Clairvoyant's.

I have a feeling this verbal abuse bullshit will become more of a common excuse for murderesses.

Maybe lying about domestic violence has become much harder. The victim industry is always prepared to find a new method to manipulate the judicial system.

Whats next?

Why only second-degree murder?

I'm no expert but shooting someone in the head three times from close range sounds pretty first-degree to me.
