Switzerland: Calls for paternity leave become louder

This year will be the first Father's day in Switzerland (congratulations, gentlemen!). Story here.

The little dig by the journalist at the end is a nice touch: "The demand for a change of the civil code comes more than 25 years after judicial equality between men and women."

It's disappointing that the Swiss Association of Single Parents called paternity leave "out of touch with reality". I can't seem to find their web site to see if they have further comment.

The web site is actually easy to find. Ever had the idea that it might not be in English?

They are clearly anti-father. There's a statement there pro introduction of shared custody for unmarried parents (doesn't even seem to be possible as of now, like here until 1998) but against shared custodoy as the norm. It plays down fathers's roles in children's lives and claims even most married fathers are not interested in spending time with their children. There's a whole lot of bs and cynicism in there. For example it says the parent without custody isn't without rights, "he has the right to a hearing, although no visitation rights". I'm sure hearings are all a father needs.
