Don't let this article's title fool you. While they claim to be paying them an equal wage, women athletes at Wimbleton play fewer matches per set than the male athletes, so they're being paid more.

Doesn't matter
Girls are lousy at math.
But we knew that already.
What I'm wondering is if the ticket prices will be lower for the women's matches because the spectators are only getting 60%-67% as much tennis per match.

[p.s. - I actually think you meant "fewer sets per match"...]
Yes, it does
Matt meant exactly what he said. Read the article carefully:
« men play best-of-five set matches, while the women play best of three. »
That means fewer games for the same money.
You are right, by the way. Women are not good at math.
------------ take two ----------------------
Oups ! Read that again and found that you are right and I was wrong.
Open mouth, stick foot in ...
Nah, they'll just hike up the tickets to the men's matches...
...to pay for the girls little pay raise. Don't you know, men gotta pay for everything women get - or do, or say.....
Feminists won't scream inequality then, cause as long as your not paying more to see women - cause that might cause people not to watch them - they'll be happy.
I don't see this as a problem...
Men's Tennis is boring... ace/ace/ace/ace/ace/ace/ace/ace.... ad nauseum.
Pay in professional sports is IMO based on the value proposition not on the time duration or level of challenge of the task... cause lets face it... sports 'aint rocket science and these folks are't paid by the hour. Womens tennis is far more interesting to watch than mens has become, hence more viewers, hence more value to the venue, sponsors, etc.
We would be hypocritical to claim that men should be paid more in tennis when folks don't watch them and turn around to justify higher pay for men in virtually EVERY other professional sport because folks don't watch the female versions.
Tennis has a problem... mens tennis has become a joke and the only way to fix it is to change the game enough to return the volley to the mens game. Until then I say female tennis players SHOULD be paid more... they're actually playing TENNIS as opposed to playing "The SERVE".
