Mean Girls Run Amok

In this story we clearly see what happens to young women when they are not provided with proper boundaries by those who are supposedly in authority over them. This is an excellent microcosm of what is happening in society at large:

...according to the report. When one teacher told a squad member to quit chatting on her cell phone in class, the girl replied, "Shut up, I'm talking to my Mom." On a separate occasion, she offered this response to the teacher's reprimand: "Pull your panties out of a wad." "Gang members were nothing compared to these girls," the teacher told Jones. "They believe they cannot be touched."

But there's an added wrinkle to their tale: the Fab Five's alleged ringleader was the daughter of McKinney North's principal, Linda Theret. Amid charges that Theret gave the girls preferential treatment, the school district launched a $40,000 investigation conducted by Jones in the fall. His 70-page report, which harshly criticized Theret and assistant principal Richard Brunner, helped prompt Theret's resignation on Dec. 21 ... "Sadly, in this saga, I was struck by the reticence of many adults to accept the role of 'being the grown-up'."

My cousins daughter is 2 and her sister's son is 5. They spend allot of time together as the young girls mother has a job that requires long hours and her daughter is watched by her sister allot. The 2 year old little girl picks on the 5 year old boy relentlessly but immediately cries and runs for help if he retaliates in any way. She even maliciously breaks his favorite toys just to antagonize him. He mostly just tries to ignore her until it gets to be to much and he starts crying. It is very rare that he will retaliate against her and only after hours of provocation.

Girls pick it up extremely early that they possess a special power in our society that is unique to them and that the rules that apply to boys do not apply to them.

By the way, the little girl's mother is a police officer and separated from the girls father. Her daughter knows that she's above the law and better then any man already at only 2 years old.
