Colleges are closing down because men refuse to return

'Half that institution’s natural customer base had quietly stopped turning up, over about fifteen years. Nobody went looking for them. Nobody asked why. Nobody appears to have treated it as a problem at all.

In the early 1970s men were the clear majority of students on American campuses. Today they’re around 42%, and women are close to 60%. When the enrolment decline was broken down, men accounted for the overwhelming bulk of it — not a share, the majority of the entire national drop.

That isn’t demographic drift. Demographics don’t selectively remove one half of a population. That’s a boycott, conducted without a single meeting, by several million people who never discussed it once.'
