They "chose the bear" ... now "all the men are gone"

The amazing Kait Willet sums up the issue in less than two minutes: "You chose the bear":

Willett: But you can't say, "I would choose a bear." Which is basically saying, "I'm not interested in you at all." And then go, "Why aren't you approaching me?"

"I don't want you, but why aren't you approaching me?"

"I don't want you, but why aren't you approaching me?"

Like, play that out loud. Am I crazy? That doesn't make any sense. If I hear, "I don't want you," I'm not going to approach you. I'm just not... I'm going to find another option that is safe to approach and that I'm interested in. That's what men are doing. Or they're just not approaching at all.

But you can't get mad at them for listening to you.

Like you said, I want the bear. I choose the bear. Okay, go have the bear. Go have the bear. Leave them alone. They don't want to approach you. They heard you loud and clear and they responded out of respect, and you're complaining about it. It's weird. It doesn't make any sense to me. I don't know what else to say about that.
