Forbes article covers worker injuries... sort of.

Read this article in Forbes on-line, off-linked from the AOL AIM news pop-up. The article is glaring in its omissions. My letter to the editor is below (comments to Forbes can be submitted here).Carrie Coolidge's "The Most Dangerous Jobs in America" falls way short of adequately covering the topic. Moreover, she leaves out vital statistics with regard to who receives injuries while on the job based on such factors as gender and ethnicity, factors that are cited in nearly every sociologically-relevent topical discussion in the popular press except for those that do not favor a certain agenda. The fact of the matter is that men are far more likely to be injured or killed on the job than women and that non-whites suffer disproportionately more injuries on the job than do whites. Also, no mention of injuries and deaths in military service is mentioned, most of which are sustained by men.

Next time Forbes runs such an article as this, please be sure to do it the topic the justice it deserves, including the relevant demographic information that normally accompanies articles of this type.
