What I’m learning about boys - and the gap we keep missing
Article here. Excerpt:
'Over the past seven months, I’ve been travelling, listening, and learning from organisations working with boys across the UK, the United States and South Africa - with further visits planned in Australia this year as part of my Churchill Fellowship.
What I’ve encountered is not a lack of care, innovation or commitment.
Quite the opposite.
Across very different contexts, there are people doing difficult, relational work with boys - often in circumstances shaped by poverty, violence and family breakdown. Much of this work is framed through concerns about risk: the risk boys may pose to themselves or to others - through violence, harmful behaviour, disengagement from education, school exclusion, or entrenched attitudes about masculinity.'
