'That includes instances of what is known as “coerced” debt, which is when an abuser convinces or forces a victim to take out a loan or line of credit on their behalf. The victim is then responsible for paying off that debt regardless of whether their abuser contributes or not.
The bill, soon to be acted on by Hochul, would allow victims to have that debt removed by creditors, who would then be able to hold their abuser civilly liable for the money owed.'

What could possibly go wrong?
If you want to increase false accusations, make a law saying a debt owed by person A is really B's debt because B is a domestic abuser.
