No. 1 "deadbeat" pleads not guilty

The Salem Evening News (which has a large subscriber base) had a picture of the ex-wife and her friends taunting and yelling at this poor man as he was lead into the court from jail tied in chains. This man is destitute of property or means of comfortable subsistence; yet the court ordered him to pay over $2200 a month after taxes. He also maintains that the child-support system made mistakes and he did try to make some payments."

The judge didn't even look at these when bail was set at $200,000. A special dead-beat Dad DA was brought in to punish this man as an example for the rest of us. I'd like to add that this guys fat ex-wife yelling at him in the picture does not look like she has been deprived at all. The local feminist reporter (Julie Manganis) called him indigent, and gave a one sided account of matrimonial discontent by the wife. Manganis further denigrates the local Fatherhood Coalition advocates for trying to contact the ex-wife for mediation purposes.



Even though this article was front page news, Manganis quotes the ex-wife with "I'd like to see more media attention paid to the issue of deadbeat dads....I don't think the public is aware of what really goes on...Maybe more people would be brought to justice." sic... The reporter also added "the ex-wife was disappointed that he wasn't convicted" immediately for up to 5 years. Julie Manganis is towing the feminist line in all issues related to Please write the Salem Evening News expressing disgust in Manganis' biased reporting, and add your thoughts on the nature of court ordered payments too. We need to start making our voices heard.
