The Freakonomics Podcast on the Future of College and Men

Article here. Excerpt:

'A May 2022 Freakonomics Radio Podcast, What is the Future of College — and Does it Have Room for Men?, dovetailed quite nicely with an article I wrote in November of 2021. In When Ame Embraced Wonder Woman and forgot G.I. Joe, I addressed different cultural ethos that led to a shift in the ways we treat our nation’s sons and daughters, particularly in the field of education and policy action in general.

The Freakonomics crew addressed the statistical realities of modern education while identifying individuals working to create positive change and discuss alternatives to help improve the educational outcomes boys and young men. Whether it’s Dr. Ruth Simmons, (a woman who served as Presidents of Smith College, Brown University, and Prairie View A&M) recognition of the way “we treat our boys in K-12 education” or the observations of a number of others interviewed in the podcast, we see a real shift in the conversation regarding the place of boys and men in a society that needs educated men and women. Our nation is not seeing enough policy action or systemic change for boys and men in the education system, but there is more conversation.'
