Status Of The "Men Deserve To Live" Campaign
Ed Bartlett from Men's Health America has sent out a notice about the "Men Deserve To Live" campaign, and there is bad news and good news. The bad news is, the bill isn't going to pass in this session of Congress. The good news is, there is plenty of support for the bill and it will be re-introduced immediately once Congress begins again. Click "Read More" to view the announcement from Ed. And thanks to everyone who took part in this letter writing and activism campaign!MEN DESERVE TO LIVE - What We Have Accomplished
It looks like the Men's Health Act will not pass this session.
Part of the problem was the Health Aide in Sen. Thurmond's
office quit a few weeks ago, so things didn't move as quickly as
expected on the Senate side.
I have been reassured by the Aide in Rep. Cunningham's office
that the Act will be re-introduced first thing in the upcoming
session.
BUT I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT THIS BILL HAS ALREADY HAD A MAJOR IMPACT ON DHHS.
The DHHS bureaucrats now know that men's health can no longer
be ignored. They know that influential politicians care about this
issue. And that opens doors for us when we ask to meet with these
people.
Don't worry this bill didn't make it the first time around.
Our time is coming.
But do this, please. Whatever you did on behalf of the Men's
Health Act the past four months, give yourself a pat on the back.
Whether you wrote letters, made a phone call, got involved in the
political process, or just did something to improve your own health,
take the credit.
Because we won't be shamed into silence.
Ed
