Knowing when enough is enough
Not unrelated to the topic of this MANN post, see this story and watch the video. Speaks for itself. Far too many men routinely put up with this kind of behavior. It's one thing to get angry with your mate and have some kind of argument. It's another thing entirely to act like this. Good for him that he's finally said "Enough". Excerpt:
'"After dealing with her drinking problems (“she is on probation for a DUI”), trying to patch things up through marriage counseling (“she showed up 10 minutes late and left”), and suffering in silence while she repeatedly tried “to convince all of her friends that I was always yelling and cussing,” Jim decided to call it a day,” the website notes.
Further, Jim reportedly later clarified about the circumstances surrounding the tantrum and whether he promised to take her to the lake previously.
“Didn’t promise anything at all. In fact, I had worked 60 hours that week and told her all week that [S]aturday was my day to get stuff done around the house,” he wrote. “But as usual she threw a fit about it. She has broken doors off the jambs at our house…That was the last day I lived in our house. I have moved out and filed a restraining order against her.”'

*rolls eyes*
You know what's really sad about all of this?
In the comments section below the article, there are actually a few people trying to defend the woman's behaviour and saying that he is abusive or neglectful for leaving her home alone all week while he works. They also say they hope she takes him to the cleaners in the divorce. I can't help but wonder how extremely sheltered of a life one must have to feel any sympathy for the overgrown girl in the video.
I don't know what's more unbelievable. The fact that a grown woman can act that way, or the fact that others will rush in to defend her no matter how reprehensible her behaviour may be. It's just more proof of the gynocentric nature of our society which Matt frequently points out.
And they wonder why men are avoiding marriage like the plague.
Yes
"I don't know what's more unbelievable. The fact that a grown woman can act that way, or the fact that others will rush in to defend her no matter how reprehensible her behaviour may be."
Yes. At yet further risk of being redundant, boorish, repetitive, supercilious, etc., etc., but I'll keep saying it 'til I croak (since I've little doubt it'll be true then also):
Nymphotropism knows no limits. None. It has no boundaries, and nothing is past its influence. Absolutely nothing.
I don't think it's sympathy...
I don't think it's sympathy for the girl in the video so much as their social engineering which has taught them that man=bad and woman= good (or at least, not as bad), so when a woman is shown to be behaving badly, they need to concoct whatever they can to paint the man as being even worst, in order to maintain that worldview. The very idea that a woman can be so emotionally abusive without the man being even moreso is anathema to them. The idea that a man would ever have the need to record such bad behavior, lest he not be believed (and so, his doing so is abusive rather than defensive), is utterly foreign to them, and the irony of them siding with her, even with the video (and thus, proving a need for video footage in order to defend himself), completely escapes them.
