'The Men’s Center of Greater Danbury is pleased to announce a free, interactive workshop for females of all ages. Participants will learn strategies and techniques to address harmful behaviors that promote interpersonal physical and psychological, and sexual violence against men and children. Two training sessions will be held in our 2nd floor Community Room at 8 West Street in Danbury on Monday, July 29th, 6:30-7:30 p.m., and Thursday, August 1st, 10:00-11:00 a.m.
Women are far too often at a loss as to how they can play a positive role in stopping these forms of violence. Standing by or remaining silent is not the answer, nor is remaining in denial or unaware of how these issues manifest themselves in their behavior. With an emphasis on prevention education, this workshop will encourage and help women to play a positive role in preventing sexual abuse, interpersonal violence, bullying, and exploitation of their sexuality against men and other women.
Through discussion, learning tasks and positive role-play scenarios, participants will be able to confront violence and abuse before it starts and build healthy relationships and a healthy community. Topics to be covered will include:
· Recognizing unhealthy aspects of femininity
· Empathizing with others, including men and boys
· Supporting true gender equality for both sexes
· Replacing violent, exploitative, and entitled feminine attitudes and behaviors with behaviors and attitudes that acknowledge true respect for self and others.'
