Story here. Excerpt:
'A 47-year-old woman who can no longer walk or cut her own food because she has multiple sclerosis was sentenced Friday to 40 years in prison for murdering her husband in Butler in 2010 by shooting him six times.
An all-female Morris County jury on Jan. 31 found Amalia “Amy” Mirasola guilty of murdering her 43-year-old spouse, Carl Mirasola, in the master bedroom of their Roosevelt Avenue home in Butler on May 22, 2010. The jury rejected the woman’s claim that she fired in self-defense because her husband, who was having an extramarital affair, was raging that he would kill her.'

Not to sound cynical...
... but she's probably better-off in prison what with MS that far advanced. Her chances of living to see her first parole hearing are zero but at least she'll have a 24-hr hospital staff around.
Well, as a murderer I have no sympathy for her. As a member of our species though w/ advanced MS, I do. In a sense, Nature passed judgment and sentenced her several years ago.
People just try for justice. But it's an illusion that we really have much say over things. I mean, let's say she were in fact 100% innocent, that she never touched a gun but instead the killer was an intruder. Her fate'd be the same anyway: death by MS. Justice? Where?
