Tears and forgiveness as Longview dad, daughter speak on false rape allegations

'A Longview father, wrongly accused of raping his own child tearfully spoke out on national television with his daughter at his side.

Cassandra Kennedy was 11 years old in 2001 when she accused her father of rape. Now, as a 23-year-old, she apologized to her now-free dad on "Katie."

"Thank you for being a good dad and I'm sorry for my wrong perspective as a child about you," she told her dad, Thomas Edward Kennedy, on the show. "I'm glad you're here for me now."

Last January, Cassandra told police she made up the rape allegations when she was a child.

"I was just angry and upset because I felt like he wasn't around enough and you know, broken promises and stuff like that," Cassandra said. Host Katie Couric asked her if she had just wanted more of her dad, "I did. I wanted more of my dad."

Thomas denied the rape allegations at the time but was convicted and sentenced to more than 15 years in prison. After serving nearly a decade, he was released and all charges against him were dismissed.'

At age 11, she was old enough to know what she was doing. Age 6? That'd be different. But age 11 *and* she waited this long? First, he never should have been convicted on an uncorroborated accusation from anyone, not even for so much as jaywalking. Anyone can make an accusation. A minor accusing an adult of a sex crime without anything to support it? Or an adult doing likewise? There should never have been a conviction.

Her reason for doing it? She wasn't getting enough attention. Sorry, miss princess. If she were my kid, I'd never have agreed to see her again much less talk to her.

It strikes me the fastest way the average man can get into legal jeopardy these days is having kids.

no punishment = no crime

sad little girls sending grown men to prison on a whim - a temper tantrum? and the half-men (manginas) lawyers and everybody else in the system still drawing a paycheck. this is justice? no wonder it is all comong apart at the seams.

this is pure feminist heaven. i assure you, some of us would not be so understanding.

question: is this man now entitled to monetary compensation from us (taxpayers) for wrongfully being shoved into a he!! hole by a long since corrupted system? i hear child molesters get special treatment from everybody in prison.

one more thought. anybody else remember that 'the innocence project' had serious problems getting old info. and evidence from prosecutors? they don't like to lose, no matter the cost in human life.

First of all I'm not clear on why did it took so long for her to clear her father ?? And being innocent, what evidence could there have been to convict him in the first place ?? Even the gender biased court system has to have some kind of solid evidence to convict don't they ??
