Missing man found buried in wife's flowerbed

'A man who disappeared 14 years ago has been found buried in his wife's flowerbed in North Carolina.

Police only started searching for David Ellis Bostic after his wife died last year, aged 78, and they realised she had been collecting his social security payments, NY Daily News reports.

Last month investigators found the US man's remains buried in the garden that his wife Ruth Huber Bostic lovingly tended up until her death.

Police say the autopsy revealed nothing suspicious about Mr Bostic's death but they are still investigating the case.

In the 1990s Mrs Bostic told her neighbours that her husband had a stroke and they believed he had gone to live in a nursing home.

Mrs Bostic's neighbours said her house fell into disrepair after her husband disappeared but the old woman continued caring for her garden and they often caught her talking as she tended her violets and hosta plants.'
