Woman In False Rape Case Goes To Jail

Story here. Excerpt:

'CINCINNATI -- A woman who lied to a grand jury about being raped by her ex-boyfriend went to jail Wednesday night, Cincinnati court officials said.

Melinda Denham, 25, admitted in a letter that she made a false rape claim that sent ex-boyfriend Shannon Hudson to jail for two months, prosecutors said.

"I really can't say she (Denham) cleared my name because it (rape charge) is going to follow me wherever I go," Hudson said.'

Münchhausen syndrome and false rape accusers. Of coarse this doesn't excuse their actions, but I see a correlation. These accusers are not faking an illness, but are faking a trauma. Attention seekers who are so selfish, they'll ruin a mans life in order to gain attention and sympathy. I've seen mental illness used time and time again to excuse deviant female behaviour, but it should be noted this particular syndrome should not be enough for a false accuser to claim insanity because they knew right from wrong. Than again, if defense lawyers got a hold of this theory, they might use it as a way to avoid jail time for the false accuser. In fact, I question whether or not this is even a psychological disorder. It could just be indicative of the need for women to play the role of victim.

From Wiki --

'In Münchhausen syndrome, the affected person exaggerates or creates symptoms of illnesses in themselves to gain investigation, treatment, attention, sympathy, and comfort from medical personnel. In some extreme cases, people suffering from Münchausen's syndrome are highly knowledgeable about the practice of medicine and are able to produce symptoms that result in lengthy and costly medical analysis'
