MTV Teen Mom out of jail

Story here. Excerpt:

'Indianapolis — Teen Mom Amber Portwood is out of jail but not out of trouble. The MTV reality star spent Monday night in the Madison County Jail and faces charges of domestic battery and child neglect.

Anderson police started investigating 20-year-old Portwood after video of her hitting her boyfriend aired on MTV. The network handed over raw footage to Anderson Police as part of the investigation. The video shows Portwood hitting Gary Shirley, the baby's father, several times.

Police arrested Portwood Monday in Anderson on two counts of felony domestic battery and one count of felony child neglect, because one of the alleged attacks happened in front of their daughter Leah.'

The lengths that women go to avoid taking responsibility never ceases to amaze me. It seems that their bad behavior is predictably always someone else's fault.

I have several thoughts....

I know people in the reality TV industry. Most everything is planned (usually one person is in the "unknown" so they can get a genuine reaction from them. But basically the events for the day are from a script, as writers try to determine what situations would be the most "interesting" to viewers. Occasionally they even re-shoot scenes.

There is the ol' saying "no such thing as bad publicity" so as long as people keep mentioning the show, it is all good to the producers. Producers do everything they can to create drama that will at best land on the tabloids and gossip shows and at least give people some water cooler conversation the next day. If no one talks about the show, it gets canceled and they all loose out on making money.

Ex-NBA player Denis Rodman told me that the reality TV shows he was working on (not sure if they ever made it on the air) were about him cleaning up his life, but the problem was that when he was clean, sober and acting normal - he was considered boring and no one wanted to pay him to be on reality TV. They only wanted the "outrages Dennis Rodman". He laughed and said the only way he could make money was to stay drunk and act stupid.

So I definitely can believe that MTV might have paid Amber to get physical with her baby daddy.

BUT... a moral human being and a mother who cares about her child, would not give in to such offers! (if it is the truth - I wouldn't put it past her to lie about it either)

The bottom line is Amber needs to be responsible for her own actions. However, I do have some fault for MTV and other reality shows - they need to get some of this crap off the air - but they never will as long as the bad behavior results in bigger and steady paychecks.
