Australia: Sentence for babysitter in child death case 'inadequate'

Story here. Excerpt:

'Child welfare advocates have called for a review of the case of a Hobart woman sentenced to nine months for assaulting a four-year-old boy who died in her care.

Fiona Maree Garth pleaded guilty to assaulting Liam Osborne at her Claremont home last year.

The 38-year-old was babysitting Liam and struck him five times because he was playing up in the bath.

Liam was later found dead and covered in bruises.

A murder charge against Garth was dropped after it was revealed Liam had an undiagnosed heart condition which could have killed him.'
