Woman charged in teacher 'sex' case

'Deanna Higgins has been charged in a teacher sex case. Higgins, a science teacher at Spring High School, in Spring, Texas, is facing two felony charges stemming from an alleged relationship with a student. The charges are improper relationship between an educator and a student, and one for sexual assault of a child. These are both felony charges and an arrest warrant has been issued for Higgins. In addition to Higgins being charged for a relationship with a student it appears that a second Spring High School teacher is being investigated, and has been placed on leave.

I’m sure there are going to be plenty of comments about how this teacher is going to get off easy because she’s a woman and the child is not going to be viewed as a victim. I hope that this isn’t the case. There have been way too many stories lately of female teachers carrying on inappropriate relationships with students. I’m sure that the students were, for the most part, willing participants, but that doesn’t excuse the behavior. The teacher should know better and no amount of justification in my mind is going to make that okay.'
