'John schools' try to change attitudes about paid sex

'NASHVILLE, Tennessee (CNN) -- The accused came from all walks of life: Retirees, dads and twentysomethings. An engineer, a business owner and an auto worker. A man in a wheelchair. Men in need of Spanish or Farsi translators.

All had tried to buy a prostitute's services and were caught by police. It was their first offense, and a county court referred them to a one-day program called the John School. It's a program run by volunteers and city officials in conjunction with Magdalene House, a nonprofit that works to get prostitutes off the streets.

School is led by former prostitutes, health experts, psychologists and law enforcement officers who talk to -- and at times berate -- the men about the risks of hiring a prostitute.

Prostitution is based on the law of supply and demand. The thinking is: Women won't stop selling sex until men stop buying.'

I can't recall the last time I heard of a man having sex with a woman he met recently without paying for it first. Well, he may not have actually given her cold hard cash, but still, there seems to be cause and effect relationship between such events as 1) man buying drinks and dinner and 2) the two of them having sex, with item 2 always seeming to follow item 1.

I once tried having sex with a woman I met recently without buying her anything first. She said no.

What can I say, I was naive and young...

Men would love to get sex for free, but until the day dating becomes cheaper then buying a hooker, men will inevitably take the cheaper option.

Like you said, all women charge for sex, it's just some are more open about it then others.

I approve of prostitution. So far I have never done this but the idea appeals. Sex for a small amount of money seems like a good idea indeed. Now I will tell you a secret. I have not employed prostitutes but I have employed submissive. If you don't know what a submissive is just have a good look at the internet. I have not done this recently but the last time I did I asked the girl (actually she was about 38 and married with children) how she would think about the things we where doing when she was 60. She said with what I think was complete honesty that she 'would be really glad she had done it'. There is far more to human behaviour than narrowly defined officially allowable straight jacket that makes all our lives miserable.

I do hope Kris reads this. It may make her see me in quite a different light.
