UK woman readily admits she tricked three men into having children

Story here. Excerpt:

"As a 31-year-old woman, she might be expected to have developed a more mature attitude to pregnancy and childbearing. The reality is anything but. Because Angelica, who claims to be 'addicted to having babies', readily admits to tricking three hapless men in succession into fathering half her brood of illegitimate daughters.

A former model, she now lives in a luxurious house in Hertfordshire with her lawyer partner. And so thrilled is she by her family so far that she is planning to expand it even further, this time by IVF so that she can select a male embryo.

Defiantly, she says: 'I'll tell them I wanted a baby, but that I didn't tell their fathers I was trying to get pregnant. When they realise that I was prepared to lie to conceive them, they'll know they were really wanted and much-loved babies.'"

I do not condone this behavior, I do not believe in trickery, I do not believe that single parenthood is healthy for children, and I think this woman has something wrong with her.

This is an extreme case and does not represent most women.

In most women, mid-twenties and older, the desire to have children is normal and healthy. Just like men that have a strong sexual desire. We should not have to feel shamed for it, it is part of our biology. Most women are able to balance the desire to have a child with the reality that they need to wait until they have all the necessities, like a willing husband.

Think of it like a really horny guy. A normal guy has the desire for sex, but he doesn't go out and rape women, probably because he knows it is wrong and he doesn't really want sex like that because he wants it to be a shared experience. This is what the feeling of wanting a baby is like for a normal women. She wants it, but not like that, so she waits.

This particular woman has extreme baby desire (way beyond normal) and has no respect for men. You put these two things together, and look what happened.

I would equate this to a male rapist. In a rapist you have a male with an abnormal or uncontrollable sex drive and no respect for women.

I feel bad for this woman's children and for the men that she tricked. I hope doctors recognize her mental condition and refuse IVF. Somehow I doubt it, look at the 'Octo-mom'.

I agree with Kris' condemnation of the deception, but I must disagree with her statement and analogy. IMO, most single mothers are so by choice. The analogy of a horny male vs. a rapist also doesn't hold. A horny male doesn't become a rapist not only because he knows it is wrong, but also because of severe legal penalty and societal condemnation.

On the other hand, single motherhood no longer carries any social opprobrium. Quite the contrary, in society's eyes single motherhood is a win-win situation: if the child grows up decent, she's a heroine; if the child grows into a monster, she's seen as a long-suffering martyr.
