"From Chauvinist Patriarchy to Feminist Matriarchy"

Article here. Excerpt:

'What's more, feminists of Hirshman's stripe make ordinary women angry by their replacement of the patriarchal judgment of women's lives with the constant scrutiny and judgment of the feminist matriarchy. Women are weary of being told that they have to sacrifice work for family, family for work, themselves for the greater good, the greater good for themselves, and on and on. Why is it so difficult for feminists to understand that women have deep, complex, often conflicting desires — just like men! — and that human flourishing is not the sacrifice of most of those desires for a lifestyle that some cranky feminist has told us is better than our own? Why are women confronted with two and only two options: the maternal drone or the worker bee? You call this progress?'

Hirshman is the type of woman that would hate me. I don't care. But why does she have to criticize women like me? I have never understood why the feminist women have to take verbal punches at the non-feminist women.

For the record, I am female. I am 5'9', bleached blonde hair, am a dancer/cheerleader, I don't believe in birth control or abortion (from a personal perspective, not political) and I sacrificed my career to care for my children. I am everything that she hates.

I wake up happy everyday, I don't take advantage of anyone and I have never asked any woman or man to change what makes them happy even when their views and lifestyes are different from my own. I am sure that most of us here had mothers that sacrificed for us (and hopefully fathers too). Why does Hirshman have to demean a parent that chooses to take care of a child?

.....And as far as trying to turn women into men? That really gets me going. I see evidence of this all the time. I will write more on that subject later.

How exactly does hirshman suggest the next generation of children are to be raised if both men and women are to devote the entirity of their energy to work and not children?
