Future fast arriving: Android mates coming to a box store near you!

Article here. Well I suppose it keeps you from seeing the inside of a "family court" but it's sad commentary on the state of affairs between the sexes. We will soon see a male version I am sure. For all the money the inventor spent on creating this android, as imperfect as it is at mimicking an actual human, the truth is that the technology is available today and the only thing lacking is major funding and the input of more engineers who are as brainy (or nearly so) as the inventor. The selling price of the "Programmable Perfect Mate 3000" could be as high as $30,000 and there would be no shortage of takers. Heck, they could sell them for $100k and still make a mint. Cylons indeed! Excerpt:

'Inventor Le Trung, 33, created Aiko, said to be “in her 20s” with a stunning 32, 23, 33 figure, shiny hair and delicate features.

She even remembers his favourite drink and does simple cleaning and household tasks.

"Fem-bot" Aiko, who has cost £14,000 to build so far, is a whizz at maths and even does Le’s accounts.

Le, a scientific genius from Brampton in Ontario, Canada, said he never had time to find a real partner so he designed one using the latest technology.

He said he did not build Aiko as a sexual partner, but said she could be tweaked to become one.'

Actually I could see this catching on. It fit in with so much else that we do these days, such as virtual social networking and other Internet stuff. If you think about it most of our interactions are with things that are not in fact human. By this I mean things like watching TV or playing on the internet. There is no personal interchange involved in any of these activities but they are universal activities and for the most part amusing.

These things could become almost indistinguishable from actual human interaction. After all you don't know if manonthestreet is anything more than a computer programme.

With all the AI advancement in Japan I can see that androids will be filling the streets within the next few decades. Wouldn't mind having one to guard my house.

I think that this guy and the creators of http://www.realdoll.com/ should get together or have this android hold a http://www.fleshlight.com/ I bet somehow feminist would make them illegal because it benefits men, I'm sure if prostitution were legal it would cut down on crime but women want the opening of their legs to be their power. But don't objectify them!! They have already done that, look at any women's magazine at any store.

While it may be a sad state for the dating world, assuming it's real, and not like the many hoaxes in the past, it's an amazing reflection on our technological advancement.
