UK: Woman found guilty of kidnap plot of her own daughter

'The mother of Shannon Matthews was today found guilty of the kidnap of her own daughter.
Karen Matthews, 33, was convicted alongside her co-accused Michael Donovan after a trial at Leeds Crown Court.
The court had heard how they kept Shannon drugged and leashed to the loft to stop her escaping during her 24-day ordeal in a 'cynical' plot to eventually claim £50,000 reward money for her safe return.

Both were found guilty on counts of kidnap, false imprisonment and perverting the course of justice.
After the pair were told they would face lengthy jail terms, one senior officer described Matthews as 'pure evil' and said her actions 'beggared belief'.

Lengthy Jail Term ?
A lengthy jail term for a woman in the UK is probably 5 years max. That is if the government doesn't simply abolish women's prisons as it is rumored to be contemplating!
