Hearing For Woman Who Stabbed Husband 193 Times Extended
Story here. Excerpt:
"HOUSTON -- Attorneys for a woman convicted of stabbing her husband nearly 200 times got an extra day Friday to prove their claims that she suffered from battered woman syndrome....
Susan Wright and her attorney are asking for a new trial and a new sentencing because her first trial attorneys were allegedly deficient by not calling key witnesses during her murder trial more than four years ago. Wright is trying to shorten her 25-year prison sentence. She claims the killing was in self-defense after being abused by her husband, Jeffrey, for many years."
One might ask the obvious question. If Wright was battered for years, why did she not flee to refuge in any of the hundreds of women's shelters available to her, instead of killing her husband?

You're confusing women with grown-ups again, Roy
One might ask the obvious question. If Wright was battered for years, why did she not flee to refuge in any of the hundreds of women's shelters available to her, instead of killing her husband?
She didn't do that because a sense of responsibility for one's self and one's actions is required of someone when they try to avoid harm or danger. Women don't do that. That's why courts let them get away with mutilating, torturing, assaulting and murdering other human beings: the poor dears are simply incapable of taking responsibility for their own actions.
Why do we allow such incompetents to own property, watch over children or vote, again? I seem to have forgotten. And if there is some argument to be made for allowing such terribly incompetent people to vote and own property, why don't we allow infants (who are held to roughly the same standards of accountability as women) to vote and own property too?
Or is this just my innately male logic and common sense haunting me?
I agree with what you say
I agree with what you say RandomMan. It seems as though we allow women to get away with so many crimes. The fact she decided to kill him, rather than leave and seek help, means she decided to partake in vigilante justice. I was always told vigilante justice was unlawful. Increasingly though it seems as though certain things are only unlawful if Men do them.
Why We Allow?
The critical phrase is "we allow..."
Why?
Wow
So, she got 25 years? It's definitely a progress in the matter of bringing women to responsibility for the crimes they are commiting.
