India: Female government workers will get 3 years of maternity leave-- none for fathers

Story here. Excerpt:

'NEW DELHI: This is one rule that could turn women in India Inc green with envy. The Centre has not only increased maternity leave for its employees to six months but has also cleared paid leave for two years to take care of children.

The order, effective from September 1, increases maternity leave of women employees from 135 days to a cool 180 days for each of their two children. From now on, women employees can take paid leave up to two years (730 days) during their career for "taking care" of their two children without affecting their seniority.'

Note that no such privilege has been extended to men employees. Talk about gender equality!

"Talk about gender equality"

This is exactly what gender equality means. I don't think India is short of people so why is this needed at all.

Note that this is is for government employees. So this goes beyond the issue of equality put reveals the corrupt self rewarding nature of governments.

Frankly when compared to India I think think the western countires are male dominated. Only half of the mans wealth is taken in western countries while in india not only is the males accumulated wealth but also next 10 years Plus his parents earnings are taken away . IF you want the the male hating certificate for any country I think India wins hands down .

As much as feminists love to fight for their right not to work (3 years maternity leave???), I'm sure they can use this as an excuse to bitch about the ever widening pay gap. Why is there a gap? Oh that's right, instead of spending three years working you were raising a child. Nothing wrong with that, but do remember the consequences of not gaining experience. Men will be forced to continue to work and therefore be promoted much quicker (unless the government, in its infinite wisdom, intervenes and forces less qualified women in its place).
