RADAR ALERT: URGENT: Mr. VAWA Himself is the Vice Presidential Nominee?

Saturday, Barack Obama named Joseph Biden as his vice presidential running mate. It was thanks to Sen. Biden’s tireless efforts that the Violence Against Women Act was first passed in 1994.

So the choice is clear: Either we speak out now about the colossal injustice that VAWA has become, or we learn to accept the consequences.

Yesterday we asked you to get on the blog of your local newspaper – or any blog for that matter – and make sure everyone knows that, in Biden’s own words, "What I’m most proud of in my entire career is the Violence Against Women Act."

And word is already getting out! Yesterday Marc Rudov published an edgy column titled, Will YOU Elect GynObama & VAWA Joe?.

Between now and the beginning of the Democratic convention Monday afternoon, we have an incredible opportunity to get our message out.

So today, we are asking you to think of any mailing lists you have, or any of the listservs you are on, and pump out this critical message:

"Yesterday, Barack Obama selected Joseph Biden as his running mate. Most persons don’t know that the Violence Against Women Act is Sen. Biden’s signature legislation. But the Violence Against Women Act is causing far more harm than good. VAWA takes $1 billion in federal seed money, and turns it into $20 billion in social pathologies. The conclusion is clear – we need to Fix VAWA Now!"

Of course, if you want to expand on, shorten, or modify that message, that’s perfectly fine. But the most important words to get out are, "Fix VAWA Now!"

Whether you are a Democrat or a Republican, whether you plan to vote for Barack Obama, John McCain, or none of the above, it is absolutely vital that we get the word out now: "Fix VAWA Now!"

You know, it could be an interesting form of amusement to try to get the American people to understand VAWA.

But, it would ultimately be very boring.

Americans have three entitlements that they believe in their souls (the real religion) -- "I will not be bored, I will not be inconvenienced, I will not be uncomfortable."

Obama-Biden?

I am so surprised to realize that a man with so much obvious intelligence could make such a terrible error.

Obama is a historical footnote now. The first successful unelected black president.

Welcome back to Jim Crow.

Oh, and a successfully failed woman wanna-be Prez.

Let's not forget to worship women's progress.
