Article: Male sexual harassment is not a joke

Article here. Excerpt:

'Many labor experts say men are less likely than women to speak up about such cases of harassment for fear of being mocked by coworkers, and even fewer would take the charges to a government agency and risk widespread knowledge of their plight.

“Many people mistakenly believe that harassment is limited to females,” says Roberta Chinsky Matuson, a human resource expert. “The truth is that this type of experience is just as damaging to men.”'

Once again the attitude is that female bad-behaviour is 'on the rise' when there is no indication whatsoever that the problem is no worse now than it ever was.

Perhaps people should be recognizing that the problem is that who reports what is a shitty indicator of what actually goes on, and that maybe the rhetoric has been wrong from day one.

Stick to the dogma, whatever you do.

One of the most blatant admissions (indirectly of course) of sexual harassment was the recent statement by the Edsel of the Nightly News scene, Katie Couric who said in the interview at the link posted here that she physically struck a male associate over a disagreement over a word being used in a report. This is not only sexism but prosecutable felonious assault in my opinion.

There has been tension on the set of the evening newscast.

Couric said she slapped news editor Jerry Cipriano on the arm for using the word "sputum" during a tuberculosis story last month.

"I got mad at him and said, `You can't do this to me. You have to tell me when you're going to use a word like that,'" Couric said. "I was aggravated, there's no question about that."

"I sort of slapped him around," she said.

No man would have ever gotten away with this shit nor should he but a loser like KC even admits it in an interview trying to explain away the reasons she "flopped" in the ratings.

I'm sure she's just frustrated with the fact that her show sucks. It's 100% fluff. With a war in Iraq, an administration on the verge of going to court, and an election coming up, do you really want to hear about how women are leaving their sexist jobs to start their own sexist companies?
