'Rep. Ashley Hinson, R-Iowa, is unveiling a bill called the Supporting Healthy Pregnancy Act that would ensure pregnant mothers get financial support from the father even before their child is born, Fox News Digital learned first.
It's an effort by the Republican Party to affirm its pro-family ideology as Democrats continue to accuse the GOP of being anti-choice while also being unwilling to support women who keep their babies.'

My note to my Congressional rep
Dear Sir:
I read recently on the Fox News web site that your GOP colleague, Rep. Ashley Hinson, is pushing legislation that will make the purported father of a child in gestation pay for half the pregnant woman's expenses, including her health insurance.
In most states abortion is still legal. Pregnant women CHOOSE to bring fetuses to term. The purported father has no post-conceptive repro. rights of any kind. It does not serve justice to force a man to pay for a woman's decisions around her repro. agenda. So long as men have no "paper abortion" option they should not be expected to finance the purported mother of their children's decisions.
Further the law would presume a given man named (or accused, as it often felt) as the father of a child in utero is in fact the actual father. Estimates are 20% of people are not the children of the man presumed to be their father, including married men. So clearly this isn't a safe assumption to make.
There are other things wrong with this idea but suffice it to say I will be watching for how this issue plays out and how the Congress votes on it.
Thank you.
