Glenn Sacks: Bill to Save Men's Commission Passes Committee

Article here. Excerpt:

"Today Richard Smaglick of http://www.fathersandhusbands.org/, who was working with the CSM to help save it, told me that HB 704 passed the Senate Finance Committee unanimously, and now looks like a good bet to pass the Senate.

Thanks to those of you who participated, and especially thanks to Richard and the CSM for their good work."

This is fantastic news. We really need to get behind this Commission. It's the only government body in the nation that is seriously addressing the issues of men and fathers. There is a men's health office in Georgia, but its focus on health disparities (which is good) does not go into the discrimination faced by dads and male victims of DV, false accusations, etc. This Commission is the best thing we have in terms of official government recognition of these issues. It is absolutely historical. I have submitted their report to courts several times already for official "judicial notice" because it is an official government act. It can also become a model for other states, and some states, like Michigan, have already begun looking at it as a model for their own state to create a similar commission. If and when this gets funded they will have the money to do much more than they could do before, without the threat of being terminated upon expiration. It absolutely must pass. And those who have done SO much volunteer work behind it, like Scott Garman, really deserve and endless amount of thanks. Thank you SO much Scott, as well as David Bickford and everyone else who has sacrificed so much for this.

Good words, Marc. Scot Garman and others who have devoted their time and energy to the New Hampshire Commission on the Status of Men deserve our heart-felt thanks. Their effort and commitment make a difference.
