It never ends: Male critics asked to ‘sit this one out’ and let women review ‘Captain Marvel’

Article here. Excerpt:

'We’ve had way too many posts today about a superhero movie that’s coming out this weekend; we honestly don’t get how women have adopted “Captain Marvel” as a feminist statement when DC’s “Wonder Woman” — which was a good movie — already featured a female lead. Maybe things were stirred up when star Brie Larson made it a point of making sure her press tour wasn’t dominated by white men.

As Twitchy reported, The Mary Sue flat-out lied in stating that all of the negative reviews of “Captain Marvel” had been written by men — something that could be fact-checked in 10 seconds. But now film journalist and proud blue-check bearer Alyssa Klein is asking media outlets to bench their male critics to make room for female voices.'

... are either good or bad. Who reviews them makes no difference and those saying that men ought not to review this film know it. This is simply a power-play, or a cage-rattling on the part of feminists and women drawn that way.

Someone please explain to me the obsession by feminists of Marvel Comics super-heroes? Why does anyone care? Super heroes like these are for a lack of any other way to put it, deprecated. Dunsel. Irrelevant. Like Star Trek (the franchise). The shows here and there may still be entertaining in the same way that I still watch I Dream of Jeannie and The Andy Griffith Show (and yes, Wonder Woman, too) on MeTV but the serieses themselves are deprecated. For me to put much energy into them as anything other than entertaining distractions from the abject misery of existence is a huge waste of time.

Likewise in re Marvel Comics characters.

Why does anyone even care about this stuff anymore?

But aside from all that, ultimately this is a bunch of overgrown girls annoyed that the bad old boys seem to have a clubhouse with stacks of Marvel comics in them and the mean boys won't let the girls into it, so they are fighting mad and attacking! Or at least that is what it appears to be like. Frankly I don't think the boys have that kind of clubhouse and am not sure they ever did.

Then again I put as much energy into things like Marvel Comics as I do into things like interior decorating, so WTF do I know.

OMG, it's not all about women, and OMG, it's not all about women. OMG.

No wonder they're salty.

The advanced publicity for this movie was great. It's convinced I never want to see the movie. Even when it shows up on cable. About the only men who will watch are those who take their wives or girlfriends to see it.

Is there really a market for a feminist action flick? Yes--a very small one.
