'Sorry, boys, but the news only gets worse.
Across the board, data show that women are better students than men. From test scores to college graduation rates, females outperform males in almost every metric of educational achievement.
Now, two economists from Texas A&M University report that schoolgirls do even better than their male counterparts when they are taught by female teachers. Specifically, the authors found a significant change in female test scores in math—long considered the last bastion of male educational dominance—when taught by a woman instead of a man.'

Why no mention or study to see if boys do better if taught by male teachers?

Dominance
When boys do better in math, it's called "male dominance."
So when girls do better in reading, why is it not called "female dominance"?
Calling math "the last bastion of male educational dominance" makes it sound as if men are fighting a battle against women. A "bastion" is defined as "the projecting part of a fortification" or "a fortified area."
Metaphors have their place, of course, but this metaphor implies that education is a battle between men and women that only one can win. If boys do better in math, it's because they're "dominating" women--like mean little bullies. Maybe we need to find a different metaphor for education. It's not a battle; it's a process of helping everyone learn and develop their talents.

Wasn't there also a study done which showed that female teachers are much more generous to female students than male students when it comes to marking?
This whole "girls learn better from female teachers" thing may just be an illusion; it is quite probable that it is a result of the in-group preference which women exhibit. Personally, I have to take this with the whole salt shaker.
