Rolling Stone Article on Rape at University of Virginia Failed All Basics, Report Says -- Magazine retracts story
Story here. Excerpt:
'Rolling Stone magazine retracted its article about a brutal gang rape at a University of Virginia fraternity after the release of a report on Sunday that concluded the widely discredited piece was the result of failures at every stage of the process.
The report, published by the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism and commissioned by Rolling Stone, said the magazine failed to engage in “basic, even routine journalistic practice” to verify details of the ordeal that the magazine’s source, identified only as Jackie, described to the article’s author, Sabrina Rubin Erdely.
On Sunday, Ms. Erdely, in her first extensive comments since the article was cast into doubt, apologized to Rolling Stone’s readers, her colleagues and “any victims of sexual assault who may feel fearful as a result of my article.”'

So she doesn't feel bad...
... abt what she put the fraternity through... or if she does, she isn't saying.
And as for the Columbia report authors, like the police, apparently they're also too cowed by feminists to just plain say the truth though they will talk around it, so let me just step in and do what neither the police nor the Columbia ppl are willing to do, and say as follows:
Jackie lied, for whatever reason(s), and did so knowingly and freely. The reporter could tell she had a wing-nut on her hands by the simple absurdity of the story's details (e.g.: raped for hours on broken glass but showing no laceration injuries) but chose to submit the tale for whatever reason as authentic investigative journalism anyway. RS went to press w/ it b/c they wanted the newsstand and new subscription revenue. And that's it. The entire explanation in a nutshell.
Now really, is that so hard to just say?
and
(adding one sentence to your statement, Matt)
We extend an apologize to women who now feel inhibited to come forth with rape claims. And we most emphatically apologize to all the men who were directly harmed by this and to all other men who are indirectly harmed by false rape accusations.
