"To heck with International Men’s Day"
Article here. Excerpt:
'I hope you are as excited about Nov. 19, International Men’s Day, as I am. “It is an occasion,” its organizers say, “for men to celebrate their achievements and contributions, in particular their contributions to community, family, marriage, and child care, while highlighting the discrimination against them.”
...
Throughout my life, women have treated me more fairly, with greater intelligence and compassion than men. I chalk it up to evolution; men want to kill other men, and women seek men for mates. I’m a lover, not a killer. To heck with International Men’s Day, and the rotten gender it purports to champion.
It’s true that International Men’s Day is about where International Women’s Day was 30 years ago: not widely observed. But men are so needy, please help them celebrate. Step up and give a man a hug — he thinks he deserves it.'

And another misandrist male speaks up
Such courage, to denounce a *gasp* holiday of some kind marking men's contributions to society simply because he thinks girls are pretty, smell nicer, and are more personable. Guess what, guy -- plenty of women prefer the company of men for the same reasons. If you don't think women are 'competitive', then you obviously haven't been paying attention too closely, have you?
But in any case, he's missing the big picture. If it weren't for men's contributions to society, his life wouldn't be nearly as cushy as it is. No indoor heating/cooling, modern medicine or sanitation, government, law enforcement, emergency services, ethical standards, most schools of philosophy and religion, no modern sciences to bring most inventions into existence, no modern architecture, Internet, computers, mass production models that supplied him all the relatively cheap stuff he sits on, wears, even eats.
In short, w/out men's contributions, he'd be practically naked sitting around in a hut half-starved much of the time with his teeth rotting out of his head and one burst appendix away from his miserable life ending.
So go ahead, Mr. Misandrist. Insult your own sex and devalue the contributions of countless men whose hard work, ingenuity, and at times, self-sacrifice, are likely the only reason you even got to be born in the first place.
Fool.
Without men
The only subject in college would be Women's Studies.
women's studies
heheh... that was good El Cid.
I have to use that...
From Thomas1: We need a Men's Day so we can say to our boys:
Posted on behalf of MANN user Thomas1, who due to a technical glitch with a word in his comment text, the site was keeping him from posting the comment below. It's a mystery to me too, but a single word, "and", at a particular place in his comment text, was causing him to get a "Forbidden" HTTP error. I suspect the cause but am not sure, so I'll ask the hosting service about it. Anyway, from Thomas1:
“See those pyramids? Men built them. Men built the cathedrals of Europe, the Great Wall of China, and put other men on the moon. Nearly 90% of all the works in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC were created by men. Nearly every opera or symphony performed at Lincoln Center was written by men. And nearly every major mathematical equation or discovery of physics, chemistry or biology was created by men (Today, most new discoveries are perturbations, many of which come without risk. Today, a female scientist can conduct experiments in a lab. Back then, male scientists risked their lives to verify scientific theorems).”
Set aside the argument on oppression of women (and whether men had to take control, just to get the job done and create a civilized world): men still created the civilized world. Set aside arguments on who perpetrates the violence: men still created the scientific and artistic world. Despite all protestations, justifications and denials: men created civilization. Women give birth to life; men gave birth to art, science and engineering.
Yet, in today's feminized world, our boys are languishing; they are being taught that men are violent oppressors. In today's media, our boys are being taught that men are stupid and self-indulgent. In today's academia, our boys are being taught that all men are rapists of 25% of all college women. In today's politics, our boys are being taught that men make more money only because they have testicles and not because of the job risks they take. Our boys are being taught that testosterone is bad. (Is it any wonder that 80% of all transgender operations are from male to female rather than female to male: some boys no longer like being boys).
Some might justify the need for Men's Day from the "negative" perspective (still a valid one); to remind the world that men suffer, too. I will it to others to explain that men account for about 85% of homeless adults, 90% of prisoners (receiving harsher punishments), 65% of dropouts, 80% of suicide deaths,
92% of occupational deaths and that men die five years younger than women today (while the difference was only ONE year in 1900).
My support for Men’s Day is from the positive perspective. We need a Men's Day to remind boys that being a man is a good thing. We need Men’s Day to remind boys that it is better to take up art and science; for that is another facet of masculinity - that the pen is mightier than the sword and the penis is a good thing.
If feminists were not so jealous of the accomplishment of this other aspect of masculinity's richness, they’d see the virtue in this day.
Want to empty your head? Don't use a vaccuum, use a Beam!
Wow, the tunnel vision of Beam is astounding.
"I don't see any men's issues that need addressing, therefore none exist."
Yeah, and the stars are affixed to a giant sphere rotating around the earth too. [/s]
I guess the sheer idea that men could need help really grinds the gears of some. I also couldn't help but notice how he engaged in a lot of peak-to-valley comparisons, as if every man is in the 1%. What a moron. He reminds me of one of those guys who would spend himself out of house and home just for a shot at being with a woman.
