‘I Don’t Need Feminism’ Signs
Article here.
'We might be unsure if there’s a real war on women occurring today, but there is definitely some fighting over the ill-understood “feminism.”
Although many feminists have come out on the defensive about the inclusivity of the word/movement/whatever you want to call it, other women (let alone men) remain unconvinced.
So much so that young women have recently taken to various social media channels to declare: “I don’t need feminism.” The reasons are numerous, including:
“Because I believe in equality not entitlements and supremacy”
“Because I don’t think being a woman is a disadvantage”
“Because I respect men. I refuse to demonize them and blame them for my problems”
Maybe it’s the feminist in me, but I just don’t see any of these admonitions as something that would or should exclude a female from adopting the feminist title.
Third-wave feminism would likely applaud these individuals’s efforts in establishing their own personal beliefs, outside of any pre-determined system.
So we’ve coming to a point where being anti-feminist is actually feminist? My head hurts.'

So the signs show these young women don't know abt feminism?
No Ms. Gonzalez, in fact these signs show very much the sign-makers know all abt feminism. "Third wave feminism"? Please. The very word "feminism" indicates clearly what it's about. Details may change a bit here or there but the nature of the beast doesn't change. Here's an analogy: three battleships. One has a missile-launcher. One has a radar-guided long-range anti-aircraft high-powered machine gun the size of New Brunswick. The third has a combat helicopter launch pad. But all three of them have the same number of very large cannons mounted on turrets that can swivel in almost any direction and together, any one of those ships can turn your typical small coastal city into a smoldering pile of rubble in a few hours.
Whether one has a missile launcher, another an AA radar-guided machine-gun, or a combat chopper pad makes *no* difference to you if you live in the afore-mentioned small coastal city when the boxcar-sized cannon shells start blowing the hell out of what will soon be your former city of residence.
Men are the residents of the city. Feminism is, collectively, the battleships. And feminists are on the ships, managing the fire controls.
"Third wave feminism", indeed.
Her Head Hurts
Her head hurts because she is being asked to think critically, something that you don't really learn in women's (feminist) studies.
