Article here. Excerpt:
'Iceland takes over the Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers from next year, during which time the Council will focus on labour market issues, men and masculinity as well as ways of removing border obstacles between the Nordic countries.
The June 2014 conference on masculinity and the study of masculinity in the Nordic region should also be interesting. Two renowned masculinity and gender researches will deliver the conference keynote speeches; the Australian Professor Raewyn Connell from the University of Sydney and the American Professor Michael Kimmel from the State University of New York.'

I goggled both these people.
It seems Raewyn Connell is a transgendered person (male to female).
I do not know about Michael Kimmel.
Do these people support Men's Rights Issues or are they men who make their money from feminism?
Michael Kimmel is a male feminist
Michael Kimmel is a male feminist.
And a rabid one at that. Some
And a rabid one at that. Some of his views are outright dangerous for men... he's the one that likes to go on about "toxic masculinity".
so does this mean that this conference is a sham?
Then if this is true, and the first speaker is now a woman, is this conference basically a sham?
I live in Norway and might be in Iceland around that time and considered spending an extra weekened.
But not if it is going to get me agitated.
That's my impression
If Kimmel's a key speaker, I'd say so.
Feminists are trying to forestall the spread of men's issues awareness by spreading their own version of what men's issues are. To them, men's issues include "teaching men not to rape," "raising awareness in them of their sexism against women," etc. It definitely doesn't have room for MR issues like fathers' rights, pat. fraud, the draft, etc. To feminists, these are not even considered issues at all.
Kimmel's on board with the feminists.
