New Zealand car rental site offers women-only discounts

Don't the various actuarial studies mention that women are just as bad or worse than men at driving? If they really offering lower rates to women, they're also making less money.

I see this ad as kind of a con job -- appeal to a woman's sense of supremacy and her greed. I'd bet that their rates are either the same or worse and that they may be using lower tier carriers as well.

I keep being told the reason insurance prices are generally cheaper for women is because they drive less (having the men drive, avoiding bad whether more, not going for a drive to clear ones head, not needing to commute as far), not because they are better drivers. While I personally think this is BS, and it's just a means of justifying their sexism, it is what most insurance people I've spoken to insist on.

So this car company ether doesn't know this is the reason for lower insurance, or knows that it isn't the reason for lower insurance. because women who rent car's plan on using them, so it's not like they're going to use it less then men. ether way, they're biting themselves in the ass.

The fundamental problem is that sexism vs. men is legal. A benefit program (one that is otherwise non-sex-specific in its fundamental nature) giving you a discount because you're a man would be illegal when challenged in a western court. This program wouldn't be. That's the problem, and it stems from nymphotropism, enshrined in legal decisions and the attitudes of the public. We'll always have people trying to make money by appealing to "identity politics/economics", but do we have equality under the law in stopping it? No, not for men.
