Canada: Feminism blamed for rising female violence

Article here. Excerpt:

'A Northern Territory researcher says studies show women can be just as violent as men and social changes are behind a reported rise in violence among young women.

A senior lecturer in psychology at Charles Darwin University, Dr Peter Forster, says there is no truth to the argument that testosterone levels make men more aggressive.

He says social factors such as the rise of feminism in the last few decades could be behind the rise in violence amongst women.

"We've now taken away the expectation that women will behave differently to men," he said.

"It used to be that one of the biggest differences was that women were more peaceful, they were peacemakers.

"[But] that kind of inhibition to be violent has gradually diminished to the point where it no longer inhibits women at all."

I'm wondering when their risk taking will be in the service of others, such as rescue workers, miners, construction workers ect...

Selflessness is a distinctly male trait with the possible exception being women's willingness to sacrifice their well being for the sake of their children (but even that is debatable as most women put themselves above their children with the mentality that 'what's good for me is good for my kids')

However, children have a lot they can give back. You have someone who depends on you and probably loves you. If you are a good parent then most likely you will foster a good relationship with that child and they can support you in so many ways. You get to watch them growing up knowing that in a sense they belong to you. And when you go they will remember you and carry on your legacy.

Rescue workers and miners/builders need to rely on belief; you simply do not get the same kind of rewards.

So when you give up time, a career, a lover, or some dream for your kids they directly give you back to you. In fact most good things require some sacrifice, especially the better things. But you would be correct in saying that some mothers act in a more true self sacrificing way but most the time a parent gets obvious benefits for their work.
