The Daily Show makes fun of and insults men, Warren Farrell, and men's groups

Jon Stewart seems to have a thing against men. He's in fine company, as you know, right there with the US gov't, the UN, and many others. One day I hope he will see the light and realize that his own sex is not so bad, or at least realize that when people talk about men, they are in fact talking about him, too. Video (dated 2/3/10) here.

Starting at 00:40 Dr. Warren Farrell is shown and roundly dismissed, openly snickered at, and with some video editing, insulted, and this, all throughout the video. (Apparently the interviewer, Samantha Bee, didn't have the courage to do it to his face). Watching the entire vid will be for most MRAs quite infuriating. Ms. Bee is openly contemptuous of the men who she is interviewing and in some places, both very crude and rude (at one point when she is in a men's circle, she asks them "when do you start to masturbate?")

I kind of feel sorry for Stewart and Bee. I don't think they realize just how many un-friends they have just made, nor realize how much in the way of bridges they have burned with this "little piece of humor". Brazenly insulting Dr. Farrell like that, editing out full comments to make them reflect partial thoughts, canning laughter over his statements, etc., all done in very bad taste to say the least. Making fun of men's groups too in that fashion also shows an unbelievable level of ignorance around what these groups do for men (and women, too), and also who is part of them.

I get a kick out of these people, because in the long run, they are the ones who will have to face social oprobrium.

The only word I can find to describe "The Daily Show's" disingenuous attack on men is not "funny," instead, "inhuman." I have to wonder if someone will give "The Daily Show" the Goebbels' award for cruelty and dishonesty in the maligning of a group of people?

Men suffer grossly disproportionately (by sex) from: war deaths. suicide, homicide, health issues (CDC), Industrial accidents and deaths, family dissolution, homelessness, early death, AND DISPARAGING, GENDER FEMINIST LIES.

Shame on "The Daily Show," not for its lack of humor, but for its apparent cruelty, in my opinion.

Forgot to include that. This is so insulting to men in general, MRAs, and men in mythopoetic circles, it's as if they decided to just take on everything male. The contact link deserves its own post.

I too was horrified. I thought that Farrell looked awful and was made to look like a loon. Was it dishonest editing of his comments explaining how men suffer from discrimination in our society or did he just do a bad job of succinctly explaining how men are discriminated against? My guess is that it was the former and not the latter.

Editing can do anything. I have seen Farrell speak a few times and really, he is a very good public speaker. This is your typical "60 Minutes"-style hatchet job.

Colbert is funny, but at some point during the bush administration Stewart was anointed as a "serious political force". If there's anything that kills funny it's that.

Secondly, this piece is typical of their mock journalism making fun of "crazies". They do one every night, using the same editing tricks and jarring non sequiturs from the fake interviewer. I have always wondered what persuades someone to agree to be interviewed by the Daily Show when it's guaranteed that they're going to make you look like an idiot. Apparently Farrell fell into the same trap, but I'm still curious as to how it happened.

Finally, on a brighter note. These attacks have stepped up in frequency lately, which means we're on the radar, and that's serious progress.
