Sportscaster Nantz to pay ex-wife $916K a year

Story here. Excerpt:

'HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - CBS sportscaster Jim Nantz must pay $916,000 yearly in alimony and child support to his ex-wife and give up their Connecticut home under terms of a newly issued divorce decree.

The ruling, made Monday in Bridgeport Superior Court, dissolves the 26-year marriage of Nantz and Ann-Lorraine "Lorrie" Carlsen Nantz. It comes after both testified about the breakdown of their marriage; Judge Howard Owens concluded neither was at fault.
...
Owens noted that the couple didn't share the same interests in Nantz's television career, which required frequent travel as the network's primary commentator for college football, golf and basketball, as well as appearances at charity events.

"In fairness, for most of the years he prioritized his family obligation and put his wife and daughter Caroline first. As frequently happens in marriages of lengthy duration, the parties do not have the same interest and ardor for their spouses' endeavors," the judge wrote in his decision.

Under the ruling, Nantz must pay $72,000 in alimony monthly until he dies or his ex-wife remarries, and another $1,000 weekly in child support for the next two years.

Nantz's attorney, Gaetano Ferro of New Canaan, said Tuesday that the famed sportscaster only wants what's best for his daughter and will not fight the terms of the divorce decree.'

Wanna bet she just shacks up with some guy and spends the next twenty years living off this poor fool's money?

It's about time that men started fighting these outrageous judgments in divorce court (or better yet, never get married). Notice that he "just wants what's best for his wife and his daughter." What a slave! Men need to stop sacrificing themselves, need to stand up for their rights. But before they can do that, they need to see that they don't have to waste their whole lives working like a serf so that the women close to them can kick back and live in style.

It's this type of talk that really kicks most men in the balls. In these high profile cases, the ex-husband is always making boat-loads of money so 1) his lifestyle stays pretty much intact, and 2) Noone feels too bad for him, not even him. To the non-thinking public, although they'll generally regard her as a moocher or golddigger (see Paul McCartney's ex), there doesn't appear to be a victim here. This is NOT the reality however for the 99.99% of average Joe's out there who are getting screwed. Alimony judgements are often very much life altering (as in being in a debt prison) for the paying "serf" (great word). In "real-life" situations there is a victim but the public just never gets to hear or see this. I saw Hulk Hogan on Larry King Live the other night and I was hoping he would rail against his complete screwing by his ex-wife. Instead we heard how he found Jesus. It became clear to me at that moment why the Church is so behind civil marriage - to make men miserable enough to find Jesus and hopefully show up at Church every once in a while. We really need more celebrities like Alec Baldwin talk about these issues because it's really hard for the average guy to make any headway.

Why do intelligent and successful men keep falling for this same old tired racket of getting married to a golddigger and then getting taken to the cleaners in divorce court?

Marriage? Just don't do it!

To be fair to Nance he married her when he was just 25 and a nobody. She's not really a golddigger - she's a moocher.

I can not remember the lines exactly but there is an old blues song with a title like 'A married man's a fool'. One of the lines goes something like -'She'll stick to you brother all your life though the chances are mighty slim'.

When I heard this first in the sixties I did not really understand it. Certainly men are fools. I have not said this recently but I have been know to say that women are filth.
