Hofstra update & feminist response: ignore data, blame victims, divert attention
From Marc A.: To no surprise, the Hofstra false accuser will not be prosecuted. And, as expected, the feminist response (below) is to: (1) say false rape claims are rare, and ignore empirical research showing otherwise; (2) say the harm is to "real rape victims" while ignoring the harm to the falsely accused who are the "real victims"; (3) say the lesson to boys is to not act like these 5 boys did (i.e., blame the victims with your moral value judgments, as though *they* did something wrong); and, (4) say the lesson to girls is to "respect yourselves" (another personal value judgment about the sex act that ignores the CRIME committed and the HARM done). UNBELIEVABLE. Please respond to this sexist garbage if you have time. And BTW, Cathy Young did a much more fair and objective article at http://www.newsday.com/opinion/opinion-the-unique-power-of-crying-rape-1.1469444. Data on false rape claims that feminists ignore is available at http://www.mediaradar.org/research_on_false_rape_allegations.php.

'OPINION: False rape charges are rare, and dangerous
September 23, 2009 By OLIVIA TURSI
Olivia Tursi is a counselor and community educator at the Victims Information Bureau of Suffolk: Family Violence and Rape Crisis Center in Holbrook.
It is the American way that a defendant is "innocent until proven guilty." In the instance of a sex crime, however, it often seems the victim is deemed "guilty until proven innocent." Such false assumptions are perpetuated by the small percentage of false reports that occurs.
The recanting of a rape accusation made by a Hofstra University student has raised the issue once again. Questioning the validity of a victim's statement is nothing new when it comes to sex crimes. When an accusation of rape is made, questions often loom of possible motives for the "alleged" victim to have fabricated her story.
Theories of revenge, a scorned lover and personal gain often become part of the conversation. When a person says she was raped, the blame gets distributed between both the perpetrator and the victim. When people say they were the victim of a home invasion, however, it seems much easier to place the blame solely on the perpetrator.
According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, there are no more false reports of rape than there are of any other crime. Conversely, sexual offenses are more likely to go unreported than other types of crimes. For every one rape that's reported, seven to 10 aren't.'

"say the lesson to girls is
"say the lesson to girls is to "respect yourselves" ..."
It also ingores the fact that they need to send the message to girls, "be careful - take some some responsibility for your own actions, and your own safety."

Time for a re-post
of my comment on 9/23/09:
I say this about the fems, they don't stay on the defensive long, they go on the attack. While we were congratulating Fox News and the NY Post on their handling of the Hofstra liar, the fems, instead of crawling back into their hole, went on the counterattack--on FOX, of all places!
On 9/22 at roughly 10:30pm EST, Andrea Day did a segment on Violence, Harassment and Intolerance on Campus which is basically about the "epidemic" of rape and sexual harassment on the campus, a piece purposely designed to demonize male students and terrify coeds and their parents. This right on the heels of the Hofstra disgrace.
I always knew they had no shame, but don't those b!!!tches ever sleep?
Feminists control the media narrative on gender and have done so for more than forty years. It was their first major initiative, creating the Lace Curtain. Notice from the above link (see video) that their rapid-response in the aftermath of Hofstra was not damage control but to go on the attack. This is what we're up against.
Where to start? Well the begining I guess
In the instance of a sex crime, however, it often seems the victim is deemed "guilty until proven innocent."
Well, come to Canada then. Rape 'victims' have the red carpet rolled out from the time they call the cops. They are NOT required to go to those dingy police stations like other victims to make their complaints, no it's sexual assault (the only word for sex crimes in Canadian Law these days). They get to go to special places the police rent out that are often located in ritzy office buildings or women s shelters that are done up like 5 star luxury resorts. They receive victims services funds IMMEDIATELY upon filing the complaint which they get to keep NO MATTER THE OUTCOME. We're not talking a few hundred bucks here either, we are talking thousands. They get special teams of investigators (like they do in the States) that ONLY HANDLE SEX CRIMES (SVU) and they get a line up of therapists and various hand holders to walk them through the legal system and even testify to their state of mind throughout the process at the trial - to say things like - the victim's behavior is consistent with some one who has been raped. These people need not even be licensed in any way as mental health professionals. They get to give testimony via video link denying the accused their right to confront their accuser. They are treated like SAINTS not criminals fromthe moment they make the complaint. Much of this also applies in the USA and Europe.

When an accusation of rape is made, questions often loom of possible motives for the "alleged" victim to have fabricated her story.
AS IT SHOULD BE. People lie, the only way any investigation can be considered thorough is if all reasonable efforts were taken to find TRUTH, not just evidence of guilt of the accused. ALL accusations of crime MUST be examined for truthfulness from the very earliest stages of the investigation to prevent gross miscarriages of justice. If the complainant is telling the truth, they need not fear this and should WELCOME the police efforts to make the best case against the accused possible by ELIMINATING possible defense strategies before the case ever gets to a prosecutor. It's GOOD police work to look at a crime investigation from ALL possible angles. Again, people lie. Rape is the EASIEST charge to lay, and the HARDEST to disprove.
When people say they were the victim of a home invasion, however, it seems much easier to place the blame solely on the perpetrator.
That's because when it comes to crimes like home invasion, there is crime scene evidence, stolen goods and often witnesses. Yet victims of home invasion ARE investigated for truthfulness. Police DO look for evidence to determine the invasion was staged to commit insurance fraud. Plus, even where no evidence of fraud exists, the complainant must STILL PROVE it is in fact their house, and their property that was damaged or stolen. The burden of proof is and SHOULD be on the complainant to prove their complaint. Guilty until proven innocent is not how our system was set up and just because some people who file criminal complaints have an easier time proving their complaint then others, does not mean that the sole blame is on the perpetrator.
According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, there are no more false reports of rape than there are of any other crime. Conversely, sexual offenses are more likely to go unreported than other types of crimes. For every one rape that's reported, seven to 10 aren't.
It's already been disproved about the false accusations, so I won't dwell there. But could some one please tell me where these people keep coming up with statistics like 7-10 are not reported for every one that is? These things are IMPOSSIBLE to prove. For all we ACTUALLY KNOW, every actual rape is reported. However, is is speculated that ALL CRIMES with the possible exception of murder are vastly under reported. Therefore, by her logic rape is not special and just as under reported as all other forms of crime.
There's no debating that, from a legal perspective, rape cases are difficult to win. Obstacles like a lack of witnesses or physical evidence, and inconsistencies in victim statements due to the effects of trauma, are often present.
Sure, it's debatable. Rape is the EASIEST to win. Rape is the ONLY crime that needs only the word of the victim to gain a conviction with absolutely no corroborating evidence required. What is not debatable it seems is the credibility of a rape complainant (even if she's proven a LIAR). You, the author of the article offer ONLY ONE POSSIBLE REASON why victims statements may be inconsistent - the trauma of having been raped. Or, you know, they could be just be scared of getting caught in their lie.
Facing stigma, disbelief and societal judgment, is it any wonder that most rape victims don't report? As a result of the underreporting and the difficulty in achieving convictions, only 6 percent of rapists will ever spend a day in jail.
Says who, please provide proof of all these rapists that are waling the streets existence. How did you reach the 6% figure? Again, since it is totally impossible to statistically record undocumented events, you pulled it out of some feminists dried out vagina didn't you?
And now, add to those deterrents the possibility of having charges pressed upon victims if they are not believed or there isn't enough evidence to prove their case. Fear of retribution can add tremendous weight in favor of remaining silent. Although it means that the perpetrator won't face prosecution, neither will the victim.
You have much concern for the potential for rape victims to FALSELY be charged with a crime. CRIMINAL LIARS will be (or at least should be) charged, victims will continue to receive justice cause like you tell those accused of rape - if you got nothing to hide you have nothing to worry about the cops finding out in their investigations. FALSE ACCUSATIONS are wrong no matter who's on the receiving end.
NO ONE ON EARTH WANTS TO PUT RAPE VICTIMS IN JAIL!! THERE IS NO WITCH HUNT TO PROVE RAPE VICTIMS AS FILTHY WHORES DESERVING OF THEIR FATE!!
The only people who should be prosecuted to the absolute fullest extent of he law are RAPISTS like the WOMAN who accused the young man at Hofstra. They went to jail, she committed the crime, where is the justice?
What the Hofstra case presents for us is numerous teaching opportunities: For our boys to learn that being a man does not in any way look like the actions of those five young men, whether the encounter was consensual or not. That there is honor to be found in standing up against the crowd, rather than bowing down along with it.
I thought feminists did not blame the victim? Are we not told that rape victims need not be virginal saints to be believed and shown compassion as victims of a horrific crime? Well, I bet if you ask these boys if they could pick one, go through what they did as a result of that that criminal woman, or ACTUALLY GETTING VIOLENTLY RAPED, I bet they'd be the first to tell you a brutal violent rape would be easier to endure and live with then what they were put through. In other words her actions against them resulted in their being harmed at least as much as of they were raped.
And for our girls, to learn to respect themselves, if they want those around them to ever do the same. It's up to them to believe in themselves and in the power of their voices. For it is only with that honor, and with those voices, that our culture can compellingly challenge the promoting and condoning of inappropriate behavior.
Sorry, there is no excuse for rape, so there is no excuse for false accusations of rape. She is a vicious, heartless, cold blooded, monster who deserves the full punishment a violent brutal repeat offender rapist would receive.
I mean, aside from the boys she had arrested and imprisoned, which is certainly bad enough, what about the forgotten victim, her boyfriend? She likely harmed him at least as bad as if she raped him to. The emotional suffering and trauma he now faces may well last the rest of his life. He may never be able to trust a female again and may have a hard time coping as a result of her. His spirit is as damaged as ANY female rape victim. What of him? Why does he not warrant compassion and mention in your article?
Oh...My...God!

If this ever becomes common knowledge among women, our collective ass is truly grass.

It IS common knowledge among women
Don't be fooled, they DO know all of this... they start getting taught it in grade 2 when the boys are taken out of the class, and it gets repeated throughout school all the way through university.
They may not know about the amount of money that's in it for them in Canada, but girls are taught from very young ages here to know how much power they posses when it comes to matters of dating and mating.
Tax payers made a stink a few years ago in Toronto about the special facilities in existence for handling sexual assault victims, and the Toronto police services desire to open up 6 more facilities in the city. The cops of course got their way and the tax payers got to pay. But seriously, you should see these places, and virtually every urban center has them. I had to go there in my city to hand deliver notice to the detective handling the case against me because I was filing papers with the court for permission to move to another city while on bail and one condition was to notify the police service directly.
I thought I had to bring the papers down to the local cop shop so I did. When I got there I was informed that the sexual assault detectives did not work out of the police station and was told where to take the papers. The local Sexual Assault Squad works in the tallest most expensive office tower in the city, and they have two floors. It is not identified on the building directory plaque on the main floor. I get out of the elevator and there is just a hallway, a locked door requiring a key card for entry, a camera and an intercom. I pressed the intercom button for assistance and informed the woman who answered why I was there and what I was delivering and to whom. I was escorted in by a male detective and issued a receipt as proof of delivering notice by the receptionist as the detective I was supposed to give it to was unavailable. I never got passed the lobby, but it looked like a 5 star luxury resort hotel. I know they have beds there to house victims in need until shelter room can be found. Victims can also go there to deliver testimony via video link if they feel uncomfortable with a court setting and would rather do it there, or if it is a child.
But trust me, no victim of home invasion (or any other crime) has EVER been treated to the luxury and special treatment sexual assault victims receive.
There is absolutely ZERO credibility to the claims that rape victims are treated as the guilty party by police or any one else in the system as sexual assault victims get about half a dozen counselors and hand holders to assist their every desire through out the legal proceedings. They get celebrity status complete with entourage of yes women to go to court. Oh, and free money. Ever got a speeding ticket in Canada and wondered what the hell the 15% victim surcharge on top of the fine was... this is what they do with that money.
On the other hand, as MRAs, we know exactly how males accused of rape are treated... they are practically hung from the highest tree by the arresting officer who will proceed to call the press within SECONDS of getting them into a holding cell, BEFORE any investigation is done. So who's treated as guilty without trial in rape cases? I know first hand it is NOT the liar who falsely accused me and three maybe four other people. I say maybe four cause she got one conviction on her step father, but she's so completely insane that I personally believe NOTHING she has ever said. She thinks every man she has ever met in the entirety of her life has raped her.
But people believe all this hogwash that feminists MAKE UP about how rape victims are treated in the justice system and more and more and more laws get passed lavishing more and more and more special privileges and free money on rape victims and employing more and more and more feminists in the system to make sure that the discrimination is stamped out.
Very enlightening.
Once again Paragon you've provided some excellent comments!
The fact that my tax dollars go to support this garbage is simply mind-boggling. What the hell does speeding have to do with "sexual assault"? Ok, so on top of tax dollars being spent on these policies, there's also a surcharge on tickets? WOW, talk about being raped! I received a speeding ticket last year and I don't remember a surcharge but that doesn't mean that there wasn't one.
How stupid are people to buy into all of this propaganda? I suppose if their only source of information is TV and newspapers. I live in Ontario and this makes me sick to my stomach. I try to have faith in the human race, but I do truly think it's a losing proposition. As an aside, I suppose if people think we're in Afghanistan to spread democracy and build schools then they'll believe anything.
ALL fines, federal, provincial, and municipal
The Victim surcharge of 15% is applied to all fines. You get a parking ticket, it's charged (municipal). You get a speeding ticket, it's charged (provincial). You get a fine as part of a criminal sentence, it's charged (federal).
So that ends up being a pretty big pile of money. There is pretty much ZERO accountability on how this money is distributed. Heck, there was an article in my local paper today that the Toronto Police Services Union is currently fighting to ensure that police injured on the job (BY ANYTHING, including their own stupidity, or at fault accidents, not just criminals), are able to not only collect their salary from the tax payers, AND WSIB which they have been able to do for years (what other job in Canada allows you to get paid your full salary by your employer AND disability benefits?), but also that injured cops should be entitled to monies from the Victim Services Fund. Why? Cause they are cops who put their lives on the line to serve the public Dammit! FUCK THAT SHIT!! They are already double dipping at tax payer expense now they want to invent some new special privilage.
