SHAWNE MERRIMAN FALSELY ACCUSED OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

'San Diego Charger's stud linebacker Shawne Merriman was arrested on September 6 for allegedly choking his girlfriend Tila Tequila Nguyen at his home and holding her against her will. Both charges were felonies under California law as according to San Diego County Sheriff's Lieutenant Gary Steadman, Tequila signed an arrest warrant against Merriman. Merriman was released from jail that morning shortly after 11 a.m. According to authorities, Tequila Nguyen did not appear to be hurt, but because she signed a formal complaint the police had no choice but to take Merriman into custody. Merriman contended he was trying to assist an imbibed Tequila Nguyen, to prevent her from driving; while facilitating her desire to get home safely. Clearly, this was a high profile case of he said, she said.'

According to a report from Respecting Accuracy in Domestic Violence Reporting (RADAR) - post 1994 Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), California passed legislation that targeted preferential/mandatory arrests in alleged domestic violence cases, and men as the primary aggressors. So, Merriman now knows why Lady Justice was unfair to him when the police arrived. Sure, in the end he was legally exonerated, but his reputation and character have been sullied due to the negative media exposure.

Isn't author Dean Tong the guy who was accused of DV a while back? I guess if he's still writing everything must have turned out okay. Or maybe I'm thinking of someone else named Tong.

Yes, I was the author was charged with DV and tampering back in January of 2008. And if you had done your homework and just clicked on any of the blogs, or googled my name, or gone to my web site you would have noted said charges were Nolle Prossed last July of '08 and my record was expunged and sealed thereafter.

I will remind all men and fathers that probable cause for arrest to place you in handcuffs requires an incredibly low burden of proof - such as uncorroborated hearsay from a woman or child.

If I did research on how something turned out in the end every time I post a comment, I would never have time to post any of them. Also, this is not a CSI, Mannix, or police investigative board, or even a law site - it is a men's rights board.

If you read my post carefully you will see that I said you were accused, which is correct, and that everything must have turned out okay, which is also correct. I hope you appreciate the opportunity we provided you to advertise.
