Mother convicted of trying to kill child

Story here. Excerpt:

"Defense attorneys argued that Waremburg was insane at the time -- in part because of the emotional stress of having to raise the girl alone. She tried to commit suicide when she understood what she'd done, they said."

"The child, who is now 5 years old, has since fully recovered and is living with her father."

Women "try" to commit suicide to get attention or to gain allies through pity more than anything else; whereas, men complete the act when they have reached the end of their ropes. Although some women do complete the act, most of them use "tried" to commit suicide as just another tool to manipulate outcomes. The next time she wants to “try” to commit suicide; I'll lend her my 44 magnum!

"What hit her the most is that she's never going to be around the child again," Serritella said.

Umm, wouldn't that be exactly what she was trying to accomplish in the fist place when she tried to poison the girl?

She faces up to 60 years but we all know she won't even get 10% of that when the judge hands down the sentence. Maybe 5 years and she'll be out in 2 with good behavior is my call.

Ok, what's up with the girls father testifying on her behalf? She tried to kill your daughter man! I get the catch 22 situation that fathers face when the mother kills or tries to kill his children - if he bad mouths her he'll get blamed for the whole thing and if he stands up for her he'll be labeled weak. But we really need to stop blaming men for women's actions, so he should be able to say without fear of blame that she is deserving of punishment for trying to kill her own daughter.

I think I agree with Paragon. When are we going to stop treating adult women like children? When are we going to start understanding that infantilizing women is condescending and restrictive toward them? It also is unfair and harmful to people (including women).
