Monster.com creates "Just For Men" portal
New portal site is here. Not surprisingly, it has a corporate sponsor with the same name.
This is a good thing to see, but also bad. It's good in that if there will be women-only job-oriented web sites and recruitment events, of which there are a lot, then why shouldn't there be men-only ones? At the same time, I don't like sex-segregation in general because it sets bad precedents. Once you accept that otherwise open-to-the-public services (whether rendered by government or private efforts) can be sex-segregated, then it's just a question of what and why. Today, if we accept sex-segregation for otherwise public events like theme nights at clubs, pay-for-entrance parties, health clubs, banks, rail cars, etc., then eventually when the political or social tide turns, sex-segregation will be possible for things that people didn't think they would see it applied to, such as restaurants, hospitals, etc. And of course, if indelible characteristics can be used as a basis for legal segregation, well, we know where that leads us (back) to, don't we? It's the "slippery slope" that people are rightly concerned with in action.

It goes around...
... it comes around.
Another factor which supports this idea
Like someone, it's a 'he-cession" - which is pretty serious since men are the majority bread-winners. Of course monster would never mention that.
