Canada: Women's only pharmacy offers safety, comfort
Story here. Excerpt:
'Look through the vast windows at 29 West Hastings St. and you'll see stylish wooden counters, a funky bench created from reclaimed pink and red chairs and chandeliers fashioned from bicycle rims, plastic hangers, water bottles and clear tubing.
Located between Funky Winker Beans and the Army and Navy, it's the site of Lu's: A Pharmacy for Women, and it claims to be the first of its kind in North America.
Vancouver Women's Health Collective will open Lu's July 7. The group has developed the business to sustain the non-profit society that has helped women with healthcare decisions for 38 years.
Caryn Duncan, executive director of the collective, came up with the idea of opening a pharmacy for women in the Downtown Eastside in 2006.
She lives in the area and often saw queues of patrons spilling out of pharmacies onto sidewalks and having to speak to pharmacists through security glass. "They're, I think, quite hostile places and women don't feel safe," Duncan said. "Women are walking distances to have prescriptions filled and we're hoping that they will think to come to Lu's."'

Sounds like an ideal sit-in opportunity
If I were Canadian and lived in that area, I would organize a sit-in of this place. I don't believe that going to other people's countries and willfully breaking laws, such as loitering, etc., is a good thing to do, even if others do it. But it'd be a helluva great case-in-point to make: "Access to an efficient and pleasant means of getting Rx drugs: good for women, not for men." Hard to argue with it, really.
The real criminals will
The real criminals will likely take care of it. Security glass usually exists for a reason.
Another!
Seems like all over the world this women-only petty apartheid is taking root....All, of course, in the name of equality.

manonthestreet The 'women's
manonthestreet
The 'women's only movement' is certainly growing world wide.In the above post thee are two examples, one from India and one from Canada. Soon I expect there will be many more.
I often try to argue in these pages that this type of thing is not a feminist phenomena but a natural impulse within all women. Feminism as such just gives an intellectual framework to how women are intrinsically. I often just condense this into the phrase 'all women are filth' The real point I am trying to make is to encourage others to abandon seeing any good in women and to regard them with contempt and indifference.
This is by far the safest way to proceed. That said it looks increasingly like that there is no safe way at all.
Women's pharmacy=abortion services?
I have not read the article so I can only guess, but this smells like abortion services.
Anytime you have a 'women's health' clinic it is code for 'abortion' clinic and they will not treat other conditions. A 'women's pharmacy' seems closely related.
I will not be surprised if the only prescriptions that are dispensed at this pharmacy are birth control pills, 'morning after' pills, abortion pills (RU486) or meds for after abortion services.
In my opinion, these have nothing to do with 'women's health' and are detrimental.
There must be some money in this some how. I know it was discussed before that welfare does not cover abortions (or maybe it does), but funding or profit for these types of services must come from somewhere. I hear a lot of poor women get free abortions and I know 'free clinics' are always promoting abortion.
