Urge the probation or early release of Will Hetherington

You and I have our hands full - but I received a letter today from William Hetherington...do you remember him? In a hesaid/shesaid story, William and his wife were in the process of a divorce. She wanted the divorce, he did not. They had two children. She got involved with her boss.
William convinced her to attend marriage counseling, and in time she hinted reconciliation. She invited him to dinner in their home...sent the children to grandma's house. He arrived to find music, candles, flowers, etc. Soon in bed together; and then she jumped up, ran outside screaming that he had raped her. Michigan's first spousal rape case. Police arrived. She said he stuffed a rubber ball in her mouth, but no ball was ever found. He was arrested. Next day, she emptied bank accounts. He had no money for attorney, was denied public defender - because he allegedly had assets.
He went to trial with an attorney he had never met, called in from hallway a minute or so before trial. Attorney told him to plead guilty. He refused, and a judge sentenced him to 30 years in prison. He has been denied parole ever since. It is going on 28 years. I think. He wants me to help him contact politicians, Michael Moore and newspapers to help alert public (especially men) about this spousal rape law - in this he/said/she said case a man spend his adult life in prison while some drug dealers, murderers (even some pedophiles) get probation. My friend spent years trying to help change this law but died two years ago, so now this inmate turns to me in desperation. He contacted me first to write his life story, but I was tied up. He thought he could persuade someone to do a movie about his story if a book were available. He's had a lot of support - but in time people forget and move on. or die. He's sick now (cancer, I hear), and unlikely to be a problem to society if released.
If you have friends or buddies who should know this story and might want to help in self defense if nothing else - or if you can contact Michael Moore (they grew up in the same Burton/Davison area) let me know. It is a terrible law! Please forward on - one never knows where it will land.

Justice was not done in cases when evidence does not support spousal rape. Does justice demand one plead guilty to earn probation after serving 20+ years? It would seem so, but that is not the issue now. The issue is whether or not a man deserves to spend life in prison in a hesaid/shesaid spousal rape case, and whether or not that law should be amended.

If you ever consider marriage
Read this case, and the thought of marriage will evaporate. Anytime someone asks why you are an MRA, or simply opposed to relationships with western women; give them the link this and tell them this is all the explanation needed.

I should base a character in "The Girls Who Cried Rape" on Linda Heatherington. I would love to see a bitch like that get her come-uppins.
I don't get how people can ruin other people's lives like this and not shudder when they look in the mirror. It is actually a crime worse than rape. You took away someone's life out of spite and pettiness.. that is truly pathetic. I sincerely hope that this false accuser and all of her minions burn in hell.

His wife is a digusting piece of scum. How can she live with herself knowing what she's done? And we here that women are the more compassionate and empathtic sex. I guess this piece of scum goes some way to debunking that myth.
Do not get married. Do not trust a woman, even one that claims to be your "friend". They are evil.

Other sources on this story have quite a different version then what is printed in the excerpt above. I guess it is a matter of what source you believe.
She has accused him of rape at least 3 other times, and he has been arrested, but there was not enough evidence, or charges were dropped. According to the state they had plenty of evidence this time even thought she tried to drop the charges. They also have him on tape threatening to have her killed if she goes through with the trial (which is why they believe she wanted charges dropped). He also has quite a violent past. What I have read makes no mention of her inviting him to dinner, but of her going to a house to pick up the kids and he jumped her from behind.
It was quite a violent attack. Even the neighbors called 911.
I don't make mention of this to start trouble. I just want people to realize that there are two sides to every story. If you are getting all your info from a men's right group you will get the version that makes the man look innocent and the woman look crazy.
If you believe the sex was consensual, you have to wonder why he keeps having sex with her, if she keeps accusing him of rape.
Like everyone else here, I wasn't there, so I have no idea what really happened. But I am not so quick to believe he is innocent.
He does deserve proper legal defense and a fair trial, if he didn't get fair legal treatment then he deserves a new trial.

(30 years possible sentence) X ($30,000 average cost to incarcerate a prisoner for one year/not factoring in the variable of amount of lost income tax said prisoner may have contributed) = $900,000 tax dollars (one expensive piece of ass!) The overburdened taxpayers of Michigan and other places need to contemplate on this when they are stuck in bumper to bumper rush hour traffic trying to hold a job in a perilous economy so they can pay the damned taxes!

Whatever was the "real deal" was he should have been out of prison years ago! And the main issue is not just misandry in the judiciary but the legal concept of marital rape and the lack of criminal penalty for false accusations of rape.
Facts on this Case
I've been following this case for 24 years and I've never heard the negative allegations made against Hetherington that I see above. I also just did a Google search and could find nothing negative.
He will have done 24 years this year, and may be able to get out five years short of his Max-Max out date, which is 2015. So he may be released next year. It is not likely that any appeals will be effective at this time. I think that broad appeals might even backfire on him.

If you google the words 'William Hetherington Linda Carey rape' lots of sites will pop up. I read several of them, but now I cannot find the one about the taped death threats, and I am feeling kind of foolish. It was an article about several similar rapes and it jumped from story to story. Now since I cannot find anything on it, I am wondering if it might have been referring to another person. My apologies.
I am still coming across several sites that have altering situations on this case. Was it dinner or her picking up the child? Because most sources indicate that the alleged rape happened at his mother's house where he was living at the time. I am wondering if dinner at her house was one of the previous rape allegations against him. This article mentions (on the 2nd page) that the previous rape allegation was re-openned and if I understand it correctly, got tacked on to the last allegation that got him convicted.

Many things about this case sound crazy. Why would a man want a wife back that had a history of neglecting the kids? And also had him arrested and in jail for alleged rape on previous occasions? What does she gain by having him in jail for 30 years!!?
According to some articles they both had a history of affairs and drug use. With such different stories as to what happened that day I am wondering if they both weren't high.
I apologize if it sounded like I was l siding with the woman. Perhaps I responded too fast and skimmed articles too quickly (I had only a few hours sleep)..
As I now have a full nights sleep and a clearer head it sounds like most of the evidence (or lack of evidence) supports his innocence.

I think one piece of evidence that proves William is innocent is the fact that the clothes Linda presented to police had sperm on them. William had had a vasectomy. If he raped her, how is that possible? This case should have been thrown out!

Cathy Young Article
Here is the Cathy Young article on the case. She is generally fair to men. Looks like a he-said-she-said case, but he didn't have an attorney and got the shaft. Prison officials continue to believe her side and keep him in prison because he won't admit to guilt and treatment.
