'The day before Christmas, 23-year-old Hope Jacoby, an athletic trainer at Tustin High School in California, was arrested and charged with suspicion of oral copulation with a minor and unlawful sex with a minor after she allegedly had sex with a student the police identified only as a male student who is 14 - 17 years old.

That got me to thinking, is it really a "crime" if the woman this boy slept with is better looking than any of the girls at his school?? Yes, I know that as a trainer at the school she was in a position of authority and really should have known better, and yes, if the boy in question is actually 14, instead of 17, that makes me mad. But if the boy is 17, as reports say he might be, then is it really so bad?

I believe that young boys can be be traumatized after being lured into sex by a desperate, lonely, "I can't find anyone else to sleep with" hag. But if the woman in question is young, hot, and desirable by many, don't you think that there's a really big chance that the boy (or boys) in question might have actually wanted to be with her -- really really badly?

I know that this isn't going to be a popular opinion, but I'm sticking to it and I'll bet if you showed ANY man a picture of Jacoby they would say that they definitely would have had sex with her in high school and it would NOT have traumatized them.'

I'm happy to see that the overwhelming majority of the comments on the page begged to differ with the author. They all pretty much said what I would have said myself. Especially the clever individual that took a blurb from the article and reversed the genders. I love seeing people choke on their own hypocrisy.

If desireability makes the crime less bad in one direction, it should in the other direction too. As long as it's applied both ways equally, I don't object as an MRA. I also have no problem lowering the age of consent, as long as it's made the same for both sexes.

But it's also important to remember that her "hotness" will not negate his obligation to pay child support if she gets pregnant. She's the one who will have all the control over that issue, and that remains true no matter how good or bad she looks.

May be it would be better if the state kept itself out of people's sex loves altogether. If fact may be it would be better if there where no state at all - particularly the USA which is particularly poisonous.

People either don't raise a fuss or outright agree when an 18 year old boy goes to jail for 10 years when he sleeps with his 16 year old girlfriend. They bitch and moan about how men are disgusting molesters when adult men sleep with 15-17 year old girls. But the minute that the genders are reversed, suddenly all the apologists come out. Oh she's hot, the guy probably wanted it, etc.

While I agree that the age of consent should be lowered and that the age difference in this case isn't enough to raise a fuss over, the law is the law. I don't think her attractiveness should determine if it was a crime or not. I also still don't feel comfortable with teachers fucking students (of any gender). It's a position of power and there is a lot of room for debate on if the guy really consented or is doing it for favoritism in school, etc. Women and men in this position need to stop thinking with what's in their pants.

Never mind that a lot of girls in his age bracket are just as horny and would probably fuck an older guy if they had the chance (if he was hot, rich, etc). Does that make it any better? What about the guys who are labeled as sex predators for picking up a girl who had an ID saying she was 19 and only turned out to be 14 with a fake ID? I highly doubt that she wasn't willing.
